To cut a long story short i saw David Gilmour from Pink Floyd in concert in the arena at Verona this week. I am not Italian and dont understand the language. Why were the crowds chanting Gary Gary Gary.
Or did i get the word wrong.
What is Gary and Gilmour connection.
Maybe they wanted him to play “Kill Gary Gilmore For Christmas”?
Gary Gilmore was a death row inmate back in the mid to late 70s. The first person to be executed in the US, IIRC, after the Supreme Court reinstated the death penalty. Lots of legal wrangling caused the execution to be continually delayed, prompting the SNL song/skit “Kill Gary Gilmore For Christmas”.
Other than the common last name (though spelled differently) I’m not sure why the crowd would be chanting that.
I don’t have the answer, but I really wish I could have been at the previous gig…at Pompeii. According to the wiki article it was the first performance for an audience at the amphitheater since 79AD.
I wonder if my friend Durga was singing with him. (I haven’t been keeping up recently.)
Moved to Cafe Society.
