Sure, I guess I could. But, will anyone want to watch it with me when they could be doing things like watching Dick Clark and/or playing cribbage?
I will, so long as it’s a good movie, IMO. I don’t particularly care for Dick Clark, and only so many people can play cribbage at a time.
You’ve never seen 2001: A Space Odyssey?!?!?!
BTW, I intend to start the film precisely at the stroke of midnight, thus ending it at about 2.40am EST on 1/1/2001.
Nope. I’m not even really awaye of what it’s about.
Good God, man, 2.67 hours long? Holy cripes!
Well, Montfort, there you have it. You must bring the movie so as to combat iampunha’s woeful ignorance of classic cinema.
I can’t wait to see what weirddave says when Hal starts talking to him.
And thanks, Montfort!
Meanwhile, on Fathom, I’m rapidly approaching Fanatic status…
Until 2:40??? Thank god I get New Year’s Day off.
Okay…y’all need to let me know what you want in the way of food. I’ll send out an email sometime tonight, since I dunno if everyone who came for football has seen this. (andygirl? Phil? You interested?)
I think it’s that long. It’s definitely about or longer than 2.5 hours. And it’s sloooooooooooooooooow, and ponderous.
And damn good.
BTW, you kids these days, can’t take a movie over 90 minutes. Wait until I have my Kieslowski memorial film festival, featuring 20+ hours of Kieslowski: The Decalogue, The Double Life of Veronique, The Three Colors trilogy, plus The Scar and Camera Buff.
And then, sometime in 2006-7, all six Star Wars films will be shown, in succession, at Chez Montfort et Anniz. Twelve hours of Yoda, R2-D2, Luke, Obi-Wan, Anakin/Darth, and Jar-Jar.
Oh, baloney. I don’t like movies that short. Some movies I’ve seen, in fact, needed to be longer (if only so the plot could go further).
Hey, don’t knock on pun. I’m 25, and I’VE never seen 2001. Never had any real desire to, either. shrug
(BTW, ummm…do I need to check anything to see if a DVD player will hook up to my TV?)
Of all the prepositions that can come after “knock” . . .
Even worse, you’d never seen “A Hard Day’s Night” until I played it for you! Heathen!

Montfort knows his equipment best (ha, ha), but you’ll probably need to check for audio- and video-input RCA-style jacks, or even better, audio jacks and an S-Video input.
Actually, Anniz knows it rather well, too.
But, simple RCA jacks will suffice.
Too . . . many . . . jokes . . . . . . brain . . . overload.
All I got to say is if you use RCA to jack off, there’s something wrong with your equipment, I don’t care HOW good Anniz says it is.
Peta: “Too…many…can’t…just one…”
I’ll check both TV’s tonight…I suspect we might have to use the one in my living room, tho. It’ll be more comfortable in there, at any rate.
And phil - does mean yer coming to play with the kitten some more?
I’m up for it since I don’t think we have plans yet. I’ll have to check with Sqrl though. If his plans include sitting at home in front of his computer playing that damn Everquest, I’ll come by myself. And why don’t we each bring a dish. I know people have different foods they eat like pork and saurekraut, or hogmaw, etc. etc. for luck for the coming year. It will also give us variety.

That sounds like a great idea. Anyone object? I’ll send out an email tonight, and y’all can sign up for what you wanna bring, if not… I’ll attempt to find a liquor store before NYE to get some beer and some more rum.
And Phil, should I buy some lemons and tequila???
Falc, doth worry about that, I’ll bring Cuervo, if folks want. Can bring Tripple Sec and sour mix if y’all want margaritas.
FTR, I’m still undecided on whether I want to come or not. Sure, I’d like to stamp out some ignorance and all, but right now I’m thinking I’ll just stay home with a liter of Absolut and my DVD. Dunno.
I’d join ya’ll but I have other plans. Have fun though and I’ll try my best to make the next one.
