At Falcon’s on Sunday, I remember some discussion of New Year’s Eve, with various venues proposed for a party.
So: what are we doing, y’all?

I’m on nosebleed watch from the 27th through New Year’s. Mrs. O is having her septum un-deviated and I gotta keep an eye on her and make sure everything’s OK.
I could throw a party at my house but I don’t think making puppy eyes and saying “I’m sowwy” afterwards would make everything all right in the end. You all carry on; I’ll catch you at Montfort’s party in February.
I have already stated my willingness to host said party, but I leave it up to the Balto/DC TM to determine if that’s OK with everyone, I am geographically north, after all.
I’ve already ordered 2001: A Space Odyssey from Netflix to watch precisely at the stroke of midnight that night.
Anyone up for that, or am I being too esoteric again?
Monty? Yer weird.
And I’ll offer up my place again, if people wanna make the drive back up to Columbia.
Falcon - that would work for me, and I think your place is centrally located so that it’s not too much of a hike for either the DC or the Baltimore contingent.
Wherever we do this, I’ll bring munchies. And some bubbly, too.
Monty - I think I’ll settle for putting a CD of Also Sprach Zarathustra (sp?) on the stereo at midnight.
I will be available for a dopefest.
I will also have to leave my dog home for a while, unless we want to see what happens when a german shepherd with a long tail and a propensity to pee when scared meets Falcon’s kitty.
Falc’s is fine with me, and prolly much better for y’all.
Sheesh, we’re all here in the name of fightin’ ignorance, and no one wants to pay tribute to one of the greatest geniuses of the cinema by viewing his highest achievement at the perfect time to do so: at the dawn of a new millenium.
I might have to stay home this New Year’s Eve…
Monty -
If you stay home, you don’t get to see the kitty.
I would have stayed home with you Montfort
and watch the movie.:)
Okay…so did we decide that this is at my place?
If so, that be cool. What time do y’all wanna get together? (And contingent on that…Dave, do you have ANY idea what time the playoff game will be?)
Dear friends, I would love to join you at the earliest possible opportunity . . .
. . . but every New Year’s midnight is reserved for a private engagement with Mrs. ishmintingas and myself as the only invitees. <Nudge Nudge Wink Wink>
Catch you another time.
Falc,
No way of knowing until after next week. Even if it is a late game on the 31st, IIRC, playoff games start at 3:30, which should put us back at your place bt 7:30 at the latest, baring someting like double overtime. Which, come to think of, is exactly what happened the last time there was a playof game in Baltimore, but that was a 1:00 game. And I was at that one too. Goddamn Raiders!
Hey, I’ll actually be in town for this one! I’m up for wherever and whenever. I’ll be coming from Reston, so any NoVa folks who need a ride, just let me know!
MEMEMEMEME!!! Thanks a bunch!
Courtesy bump for all involved. Falcon says her place around 7 or 8 (but really whenever you want to come).
Sadly, PD will not be coming to this one, either. Maybe we can get andygirl and [/quietgirldownthehall** to come, though?
Excellent! Falcon’s it is, then - thanks, Amy!
Got champagne; got a CD of Also Sprach Zarathustra. Don’t have 201 Minutes of Space Idiocy. Though it was pretty neat when I saw it back in 1968.
I got my DVD of 2001: A Space Odyssey in the post today, and since Anniz won’t be here to watch it with me at midnight, I don’t know what to do.
Do I stay home alone and watch it, being true to myself and in honour of Kubrick (and Clarke, too, who most likely won’t be around when it’s time to commemorate 2010), or do I sell out my convictions and join my friends at Falcon’s?
What should I do?
Happy 2500, RTFirefly!!!
Can you bring your DVD player to falcon’s place?
