Dead Pool: A Song of Ice and Fire novels (spoilers)

I suppose I should explain this one for the benefit of non-non-Merkin-comic-readers. The long-running anthology comic 2000AD had a character called Nikolai Dante, a soldier of fortune type whose adventures were constantly getting him into situations where death was all but inevitable. His response to anyone telling him that he was almost certainly going to die was “Don’t worry - I’m too cool to kill!”

The two characters couldn’t be further apart - Ser Loras is a noble knight pledged to a selfless and celibate order, while Dante is a lecherous, drunken, thieving, roguish gambler and archpartier who finds himself raised to high estate by dint of being the bastard offspring of the Imperial family - but they do resonate on the “almost certain death” level.

Bleh - that should have been “pointing out ththe was almost certainly going to die”, not “telling him that…”
