Who will be alive at the end of GoT?

Possible spoilers, of course.

I think Tyrion and Sansa will be alive; all other Lannisters will be dead. Dunno about Jon Snow; I could be convinced either way. Until recently I would have bet on Daenerys but the theories that predict her to end up being a bad guy (gal?) seem plausible.

My boldest prediction is that I think Ramsay is going to pull a Prince Humperdinck a survive to the end; what would troll fans more than that?

Some spoilers regarding the end of this season were leaked; I made a thread about it but it didn’t get any replies so I assume most people don’t want to know. But if you do want to know, a couple characters fates are known. I’ll refrain from making any predictions though until those events have passed. :stuck_out_tongue:

The living die and the dead re-die. The Night King and Daenerys are the only ones left to repopulate the, um, not-Earth.

The very end? And I assume you mean the show since you said GoT instead of Song of Ice and Fire.

Jon Snow - maybe on the throne? Married to Daeny.

Tyrion

Daenerys - maybe on the throne? Married to Jon.

I’m thinking Martin pulls a Shakespeare and every major character dies.

My prediction for the final book: a new character is introduced - Ser Jhorjar ar’Marten. He’ll defeat all the surviving villains, tame all the surviving dragons, kill all the surviving Starks, and consume all the surviving banquets.

I’m checking a list of characters :

-Robyn Arryn : Littlefinger needs him as a puppet, and if Littlefinger is out, nobody has any particular reason to want him dead. Will still die, presumably by winning a Darwin award.

-Tommen : obviously doomed. I like the theory according to which his mother will have him killed unintentionally.

-Davos : he has not much to lose by dying. So, I see him living, as advisor to some other survivor in charge of something (Sansa?)

-Melisandre : will die. Sacrificing her for the greater good. Or murdered by her own coreligionists for picking the wrong side.

-Ramsay : I would have assumed he would die soon, but I like Deeg’s theory that they might let him survive to troll us. So : alive.

-Walder Frey : someone will make him pay for the Red Wedding. Dead.

-Theon Greyjoy : redeem himself by dying heroically.

-Yara Greyjoy : lives and rules the Iron Islands.

-Euron Greyjoy : dead, see Yara above.

-Tyrion : hmmm…difficult case. I’ll go with “live”. As lord of Casterly Rock, even. With a wineyard.

-Jaime : will survive, having lost everything he held dear. Join the future incarnation of the Nightwatch.

-Cersei : doomed. Killed by a crowd? Commiting suicide after her last son’s death?

-Kevan Lanister : dead

-Lancel Lanister : dead

-The mountain : (re)killed by his brother, as everyone is expecting

-The hound : lives. He’s very resilient and practical.

-Elleria and the sand snakes : huh??? who cares???

-Sansa : lives and rules as Lady of Winterfell.

-Arya : dies tragically (and with a long, sad death scene) after doing something completely unexpected.

-Bran : lives as the next three eyed raven. For a long time.

-Rickon : dies very soon (like in the next episode). Horribly.

-Meera Reed : she has always devoted herself entirely to others (her brother and Bran). Will obviously die for this reason.

-Daenerys : I hope the theory according to which she will turn to be the bad guy is correct. Will die as a result.

-Jorah : assuming that we even see him again, will die. Not from the disease.

-Daario Naharis : will die, preferably betraying Daenerys for his own gain. Killed by Jorah, maybe.

-Missandei and Grey Worm : will realize that danaerys is bad news, and will plot her demise. Grey Worm dies while killing Danaerys. Missandei gets to live.

-Edmure Tully : will redeem himself. Maybe by bringing revenge on Walder Frey. Will be again lord of the Riverlands.

-Margaery Tyrell : practical woman. She will live. As lady of Highgarden.

-Olenna Tyrell : will live.

-Mace Tyrell : too stupid to survive.

-Loras Tyrell : dies. Soon.

-Littlefinger : grandiose death.

-Varys : will play some absolutely crucial part in the resolution, and live.

-Pycelle : obviously good at surviving. Lives.

-High Sparrow : won’t live for long.

-Qyburn : won’t survive the fall of Cersei.

-Brienne : too honorable, brave and stubborn to survive this show. Dies heroically.

-Podrick Payne : I’m of a shared thought on this one.

-Bronn : will die fighting without having achievied his dreams.

-Gendry : I could see him coming back. And surviving.

-Samwell : lives a happy life

-Olly : see Samwell.

-John Snow : not the slightest clue…

Well, yeah, because if you mean the book, then answer is “no one”, because the universe will have flickered out by the time Martin types the last paragraph.

I slightly changed my mind about Littlefinger. His only weakness was his love for Catelyn Stark, projected onto Sansa. It has to be his demise. So, will die while trying to protect or save Sansa, possibly in the next episode. He will agonize in her arms, telling her : “I only ever loved you, Catelyn”.

I’m leaning more and more on this being “the last days of Westeros.”

Survivors- Tyrion living well enough as the most famous dwarf in the world and the last “Westorsi” somehwere like Bravos. He’s a drunken scribe detailing how the West failed to come together and now that whole continent is in endless winter.

Jon Snow but as the new Night King.

Annndddddd… that’s it.

I don’t see Jon Snow surviving. He’s a classic tragic hero. But he won’t die meaninglessly. Some grand sacrifice, a death in an ultimately victorious battle, etc.

If the war against the White Walkers goes past the wall, a lot of the people in the North are going to bite it. I wouldn’t be surprised if Jaime Lannister winds up fighting alongside Brienne at some point, as the white walkers cause all the other disputes and political machinations in the North to be forgotten. And they’ll both probably die heroically. Jaime is another classic tragic figure, with a hint of a redemption arc waiting for him.

I suspect King’s Landing is in for a world of hurt. Cersei is crazy enough to try to use the wildfire at the sept of Baelor, and it will get out of control and blow the whole damned place up. Not only was that foreshadowed in Bran’s visions, but it would be a nice ironic callback to the Mad King trying to do the same thing and being stopped by Jaime Lannister. Then his beloved sister goes ahead and does it anyway. Depending on the size of that conflagration you can write off Cersei, Kevan, the small council, the sparrows, Loras, and a whole bunch of others.

Hmm… And a fitting end for the Mountain would be him trying to carry Cersei to safety, only to run into the Hound - who ultimately kills him with fire. Just like the Mountain scarred the Hound.

Arya? No idea. My suspicion is that she’s going to land in Westeros, wind up going through the Riverlands, meet up with the Hound again, and they’ll go on a road trip to King’s Landing to start crossing names off her list - and his. It would be great fun if both of them ran into the Mountain and Cersei trying to escape King’s Landing - and the Hound kills the Mountain and Arya kills Cersei. In the revenge business, that’s called a job well done.

If any Starks live through this, my money would be on Sansa and Bran. Littlefinger might survive too - the Vale is probably the safest place in Westeros from the army of the dead, after all. Unless he dies helping to take back Winterfell, that is.

Daeneris may have the right to rule in Westeros, but there is little slavery there, and freeing slaves is about the only good thing she’s done so far. If she lands in Westeros with a horde of Dothraki, she WILL be the bad guy, because that army will be slaughtering a whole lot of innocent peasants and talking a lot of land from people who did them no harm. Even the Lannisters are not the kind of monsters the slave holders of Essos were. The biggest problem for the peasants of Westeros is not slavery and despotism, but simple poverty. Daeneris can’t fix that.

I think the last book will end with that ancient secret heir to the throne (whose name I can’t bother looking up now) looking down at a pile of dead bodies a la Macbeth.

My prediction, only half in jest: every named character dies except for Samwell Tarly, Gilly, Hot Pie, and Ser Davos Seaworth.

After defeating the Night King with a lucky strike of his father’s sword (with his eyes closed, of course), Samwell ends up on the Iron Throne, with Gilly as his queen. Hot Pie is the court baker. Ser Davos (survivor that he is) shows up out of nowhere after the battle and is appointed Hand of the King. Credits roll.

Robby, I like your predictions! Fingers crossed that you’re right.

I think those not actively playing the game of thrones are the most likely to survive. Arya isn’t really about that, only revenge, so I think she has a chance. I would have put Jon in the same camp, until recently, but now I’m not so sure. Sam will make it if only as a scribe to document history for the next generation. Tyrion will be the last of the Lannisters. Jamie will fail to save Cersei from herself. His last act is to save Tyrion. Daenerys will die in a way already guessed in this thread. Littlefinger has to die. Probably by the hands of the Night King. The only thing his machinations couldn’t predict.

Ser Davos is looking at your finger crossing with envy.

Say, that brings up a good question, Uosdwis R. Dewoh. With Davos’s maimed hands, how did he carve the toy wooden stag that the poor crispy princess carried with her to the stake?

I’m routing for the White Walkers.

Well, it didn’t take long for my boldest prediction to be wrong. I’m still clinging to Sansa and Tyrion.

Yeah, I dunno…we didn’t actually see him die on camera. He was still screaming when it cut to the next scene. Definitely still alive.

He only lost the tips of the fingers on one hand. Stumpyhand is good enough to hold a block of wood, and full hand is as dexterous as it was before he brought onions to Stannis.
