We know Dani rides Drogon, the black one. Jon Snow will ride the white. We know only Targaryens can ride dragons, and the only other surviving Targaryen is Aegon, which leaves him the green. Of course, RR can produce another one, which would leave my last prediction moot.
Will Jon Snow die?
No. Melisandre will save him, which will leave him with changed, most likely with blackened skin, like the skin on the Greyjoy captain’s hand.
Is Stannis the promised one?
No. It’s Snow, not Stannis. Stannis may well occupy the Iron throne, however.
Does anyone know if he’s even working on them anymore? Really, I thought they were dragging by book three, so my plan was to wait until he finished the series before reading further. He’s only 65 now so there is time.
Just saw him at Con Carolinas. He seemed a lot more interested in working on his Westeros compendium than the actual books, but he did read from the next one.
In “The Princess and the Queen”, non-Targaryens ride dragons, so this is incorrect. My bet is Dany, Jon Snow, and Tyrion.
No, he’ll warg into Ghost, so his ‘spirit’ will survive, and then Mel will help him get back into his body (which will probably be frozen), perhaps even before his body dies (and she’ll heal it).
No. Or if he does it’ll be because he gave up on them on purpose.
Who will ride the dragons?
Dany, Jon, Tyrion (using the horn that Greyjoy has). I think a 4th might be hatched and Aegon will ride one of them. Although without that 5-year time skip, I do wonder if they’re going to be all be big enough…
Will Jon Snow die?
No. I’m fairly certain he’ll come back normal too.
Dany Jon Tyrion. Although dragons have had more then one rider, just no rider has ridden more than one dragon. So one of the Ironborn may succeed with their horn, but the three will wind up DJT.
Will Jon Snow die?
He is dead, thus freeing him from his “Watch” oath. Melisandre will bring him back.
Is Stannis the promised one?
I thought that Dany was obviously Azor Ahai. (sp?) I mean, she sacrificed her love and reached into the fire and pulled out the perfect weapon to save them all from the creeping night. I can’t see any doubt here.
George will most certainly die before it is finished. All the great fantasy guys do this, it is tradition.
Jon will be revealed to be Dany’s half brother. There will be incest (she cannot bear children). I think Arya will be the third rider. She and Jon can control the dragons.
Stannis’s days are numbered. Jon is the promised one.
Supposedly Bran the Builder (Brandon Stark, first of his name) built the Wall and Winterfell with the help of giants, some 8000 years prior to the events of the books. The Night’s Watch was founded at roughly the same time, but slightly earlier, and helped drive the Others back north, and allowed the First Men to build the wall.
Yeah… It’s only that he takes after his mother’s side, not his fathers, at least in looks. But he’s still Targaryen.
Fishtar: Dani can bear children. The blood in the last chapter of the last book is a miscarriage. Daario’s child.
The prophesy is: “When the sun rises in the west and sets in the east,” said Mirri Maz Duur. “When the seas go dry and mountains blow in the wind like leaves. When your womb quickens again, and you bear a living child. Then he will return, and not before.”
The sea that goes dry will be the Dothraki Sea. The other two I’m not sure about, though Tyrion mentions the “sun” rising in the west and setting in the east on his voyage to Meereen. Prince Martyll’s death could also seen as a fulfillment of that prophecy. Dani will name her first son Drogon, and then “Drogon” will be returned to her.
iiandyiii: Which book is the “Princess and the Queen” in?
I’m not sure why everybody thinks Tyrion will be riding a dragon. It’s out of character for him.
What you refer to as “out of character” is one of his deepest childhood dreams. He still dreams of dragons as an adult, and he did before Dany’s eggs ever hatched.
It’s established that wargs can transfer into animals upon death. Melisandre has a vision that Jon is a man, then a wolf, then a man again. The Red God can bring people back from death.
I’ve never assumed that having three dragon riders will literally happen. I really hope it doesn’t, because fuck that cliche fantasy shit.
I used to want to ride dragons too, when I was a kid. But Quentyn proved it takes more than wanting to, in Martin’s world, to do it.
Everyone agreed it was foolish, what Quentyn did, and he died for tying it. Dani herself nearly died, facing Drogon, despite being 100% Targaryen, the Mother of Dragons, virtually fearless, and immune to fire. And even she can’t (yet) control her dragon.
Tyrion is anything but foolish. He’s calculating, he’s shrewd, and he has no wish to die. He can be brave, but he doesn’t take foolish risks. He has no reason to think, should he come face to face with with a dragon, it would do anything but eat him.
He doesn’t. And that’s one of the great things about his books. But there are a few characters even Martin can’t kill. Snow is one of them. So is Dani. It’s the Song of Ice and Fire. Snow is Ice, Dani is Fire. They can’t die, at least until they do whatever they’re supposed to do together. Aegon the Conqueror had three dragons. The other two were ridden by his sister-wives. If Martin wants symmetry (and I hope he does), Dani will ride Drogon, and two male relatives will ride the other two. The living Aegon is (supposedly) her brother. Jon is her nephew. So far as we know, they are the only living blood she has.
I don’t thing GRRM will finish the series. In fact, I don’t think we’ll ever see another book. His editor just mentioned that maybe it will be an 8 volume series. I think GRRM is kind of stuck in some kind of neurotic cycle with these books and can’t finish them
