Dead zone around banner ads at the bottom

It would appear that the advertisements have a dead zone around them. On the ad at the bottom, when it loads it takes about an inch of screen with it and makes anything in that zone not work (like the hyperlinks no longer respond.)

Don’t know if thats a feature or a bug, but its the first time today I have noticed it and thought I would share.

Thanks,

TD

Lemme ask you, are you using any kind of ad blocker? Just curious.

Can you send me a screenshot so I have something to forward to the advertising/technical people? (Could be a tech issues, could be a miscoding of an ad call, could be some other problems I dunno.)

Ha! Its not doing it right now. The offending advertisement that did it was a Home Depot advertisement. The one that loaded just now was thinner and didn’t do that. It was for Culligan Water Treatment. I’ll keep my eyes out and keep playing with it. I have a lot of dead time in my lab so I will spend some time poking around and trying to click on stuff.

I think I speak for almost everyone here when I say thank you TubaDiva for all that you do.

Might have just been that the Home Depot ad was miscoded in some way or didn’t render properly for some other technical reason.

I have also received a complaint that a user came to the board and a nag notice from McAfee appeared on his screen telling him his account had expired and it was time to renew; however, the user did not have a McAfee account and never had. I can’t yet ascertain the mechanism behind the McAfee notice but I do note that McAfee has a history of being annoying in that fashion and all you have to do to have constant reminders of McAfee threatening you with mayhem on the internets if you don’t pay for McAfee service is to look at their site or accidentally click on an ad or buy a product that has it as an extra added free unwanted bonus. “Don’t you want to install McAfee now?” Hell no.

As always, please let me know if you see something untoward. A screen shot is always helpful. TubaDiva@aol.com
