This morning, I started seeing a new sort of banner ad on these forums. It appears mid thread, obscuring all or part of a post. There is not obvious “x” to close it.
Is this a new development? Any way for a non-member to close it?
I’ve seen mid-thread ads before (when not logged in) but I can’t say if I ever noticed them obscuring anything.
The advertising folks can put ads wherever they want. We don’t have much control over that. However, ads should not be obscuring content. That’s a problem that I can report.
Is it multiple ads or are there specific ads that obscure posts?

Free ad-blocker downloaded from the inter-tubes. Worth every… well, you get the idea.
I had it on a couple of threads this a.m., but not again since. If it occurs again, I’ll be more attentive and get back to you. A banner that would appear approximately 1 screen down as I scrolled through a thread. But it moved with the text, you it obscured whatever was behind it, and I could not discern how to “X” out of it.
Occasionally there’s ads on the page that are not quite right; their placement on the page is slightly different from the norm. We assume it’s a miscoding; it happens.
We have no way of knowing what kind of ads you’re being shown; it varies with location. What we ask you to do is if you see a miscoded ad that blocks text or affects functionality you try to get a screenshot of the ad. Send it to me at tubadiva@aol.com. Tell me what kind of ad it is; reporting the name of the company or service or whatever is in the ad may also help the ad department track down the problem.
Also tell me what kind of device you’re using; how you’re viewing the ad may be part of the problem.
