Annoying ad placement

I understand the need for ads on this site, but currently some kind of pop-up ads are showing up on Cecil’s column. They are somewhat transparent, but are very hard to read through. They are placed over the readers’ question and I see no place to click to close them.

Needless to say, this are quite annoying.

Can they be eliminated, moved, or at least a way to read under them be created?

And rats can’t edit the title for typo. Can a mod fix?
