Large political ad pops up on SD main page, repeatedly

I just had an uncomfortable experience. On Cecil’s main page, a large ad, taking up 3/4 of the screen, popped up, titled “Bama’s Failures.” Sure, I could click on the X and remove it, but it popped up several more times, every few seconds.

I traced it to a mouseover event on a smaller ad by the same ad company, American Crossroads, a vertical banner ad on the left side of the page. No matter where you move the mouse, it’s hard to avoid crossing that ad, and then you get the entire screen blanked out again.

No sound accompanies it, and there’s probably nothing that can be done, but I just wanted to express my outrage and disappointment, sub-Pit level.

And I would feel the same if it was a pro-Bama ad, so when it comes to annoying stuff, I’m neutral. (As P.J. O’Rourke says, don’t vote, it just encourages the bastards.) Just leave me alone.

I’ve passed this on to Ed.

That will get their attention !!

We’re going to need to know the exact time and date. The exact text. Three screen caps from different angles. A photograph of monitor and the surrounding area, just to be sure it wasn’t something in the room that fell in front of the screen that you mistook for a pop up, because you’re the first person to report any kind of misbehaving ad. What language was it in? What state do you live in? Are you a guest or a charter member? Do you have Ad-block? Where you singed in? We need your 2 of your 3 first born (you can pick) children to sacrifice. Did it come up from the bottom or side of the screen? Did it make any sound?

Please get back to us with these questions, then we’ll decide if you have a valid case and go from there.

Yes.

I’d say I wished the SDMB had a like button, but I’m afraid that’d set some people off.
