Deadwood, 8/20/06

Hey, my first Deadwood thread! How’d I beat the rest of you cocksuckers to the fuckin’ punch? Starts here in about three fuckin’ hours, so I have to immediately tune out of my own fuckin’ thread. Later, fuckheads!

Fuck, Fuck, Fuck.

Ditto.

Hey, if Jimmy Buffet fans are parrotheads, shouldn’t Deadwood fans be fuckheads?

Great episode. Loved the dead Elsworth cam! And it was the only episode I can think of to start at night and end in the day.

Poor poor Ellsworth. I called it in the previous thread but I wasn’t happy then and not happy now.

How cool was Wu? 150 Chung Kuo cocksuckers–with guns!

Loved seeing the soldiers as ringers ready to vote for Hearst’s guys.

Say what you want about Trixie, she knows how to get things done.

We played Duck Duck Goose in the 70s too, a century later. Either me or that game is really really old.

Nice tits, too.

That fucking slimy Hearst, telling Doc he had nothing to do with Ellsworth’s murder, and trying to defame him with all that “bawd” talk. Fucking bastard. Not that Ellsworth was ashamed about whoring, but for cryin’ out loud!

I didn’t believe he was dead, cuz ya know Jim Beaver said on the HBO board that he and Sophia have a touching scene in the last episode. Well ya cocksucker, ya didn’t say you wouldn’t have any lines! Limberdicked cocksucker!

Mehitabel, not just Duck Duck Goose, but did you catch the whores playing Rock Paper Scissors?

I can hardly wait to watch it again. Curse HBO for not going with a fourth season, because it looks like Alma and Seth’s story isn’t over.

Damn HBO.

Did anyone else notice the effect in the mirror when Hearst was ordering Elsworth’s death? The image reflected was black-and-white, like an old daguerrotype. I thought it was kind of cool.

Why did Trxie bare her breasts as she marched through the town? If the idea was to throw Hearst off balance for a crucial second when he saw a naked lady at his door, why didn’t she just unbutton her blouse when she got to the hallway outside his room?

I admit to tears and some shouting in my household when Ellsworth died. Dammit! I haven’t been this upset by the death of a character since Gary died on thirtysomething. He was the best man in Deadwood. And holy shit, Trixie has balls, maybe the most balls in Deadwood, but she should have aimed for his face. That bastard! I mean, I thought Cy Tolliver was evil, but George Fucking Hearst takes the cake.

Doc didn’t seem to believe Hearst’s bullshit about not being connected to Ellsworth’s death, since he made the bullet removal as painful as possible, and wanted to leave without dressing the wound, when he saw it was Trixie’s bullet.

She did it so she could get up to his room and get back out without being questioned.

Anyone know what “hang tai” means?

I think it’s “heng dai” and means “friend”.

It’s ‘heng dei’ and it means ‘brothers’.

I would be more upset by Ellsworth if I hadn’t been expecting it for a week, but the more I think of it the more I get upset, actually. I knew he was dead as soon as I saw the dog. Be nice to a dog or a kid and that’s the last thing you’ll do.

I’m with RubyStreak. Trixie should have aimed for his face. THAT would have gotten things done. Of course we knew ahead of time that Hearst would live for many more years after leaving Deadwood, so he’ll survive.

So, what are the odds Alma sells the claim and moves back east?

Heng dei…heng dei, fuckin’ Wu.

**George Hearst is a goddamned **sucker!

Whew. Sorry about that. I had to get that off my chest. Excellent build up to the finale next week. Hope they don’t leave too many thread hanging.

Since there is supposedly a 2-hour special to be presented next year, I bet they leave a LOT of threads hanging. Cocksuckers.

No one has commented on poor Sofia. That kid has some serious issues now, but good on Doc for getting Alma to understand why she needs to see Ellsworth, for closure. So damn sad, I can hardly stand it. But Doc Cochran is a smart guy and Deadwood is lucky to have him.

What was going on with Tolliver? He seemed angry that Ellsworth was killed, but I didn’t know he cared.

Al Swearengen has come a long way since S1. He has sorta become a throat-slitting hero, eh? Developed a civic conscience that is not just based on money, though I bet he’d claim it was.

I was thinking that about Swearingen the other day. First couple of episodes we thought he was the most evil man imaginable. How has he become one of the good guys?

By comparison.

Of course. That was a rhetorical question, obviously.
