Dear Cynic a'la Diogenes [why one woman is voting for McCain]

So a person who has nothing to do with the campaign ,writes an opinion , and Obama is responsible. Yet Palin lies about the bridge to nowhere over and over. That does not bother you.
You were voting Repub any way.

Well, right here on these boards, there were quite a few hate-filled pitbulls that attacked Hillary over and over and over and over and over…

And personally, that level of hatred by supposed “Dems” also got me angry at many of the self-professed Obama-ites here.

Wow Dio, I didn’t know you were a member of the media.

Not only am I not in the media, I wan’t even one of the people here who ever attacked Hillary.

(bolding mine)
Here is the problem. You are dealing with opinion. Not law or even fact. A rather misplaced approach in Great Debates, don’t you think?

There would be a lot less confusion if you would attempt to express complete thoughts. Punctuation would be a bonus.

Just to clarify, you believe Obama’s vote was a pander to his baby killing constituents?

ElvisL1ves was never so reviled here as when he didn’t get on board the Obama train.

That’s crap. He was reviled for putting forth unfounded, unsupported arguments that he was incapable of defending with facts, and for covering his eyes and going “la la la, I caaaaan’t seeeee you,” when confronted with facts that disputed his claims.

But good try, anyway.

Well, I guess that explains why there are so many responses to RTFirefly on page 1, even though he hasn’t posted to this thread.

I wonder what the alternative was?

Seriously, Marley23, thanks for that note. I was beginning to think Rufus had been disappeared.

I have no animus against you and I have not previously considered you anything other than one of our frequenrt GD participants, but you were Warned, three days ago, for personal insults in GD and you’re back here doing it again, today.

This is a Warning that you are pushing your luck and endangering your posting privileges.

I doubt that I would characterize the anger directed toward ElvisL1ves in the same manner that Shayna has done here, but I would note that I saw a lot of anger directed toward him because of the angry manner in which he posted, not due to his failure to support Obama.
From my perspective, it appeared to be a lot of passionate posters letting their emotions run wild that had nothing to do with any particular poster or candidate.

At any rate, I think that allowing the loudest supporters of any candidate to determine one’s vote is rather stupid. Each side is capable of finding supporters who are just nasty and for anyone who declines to vote for a candidate with some nasty supporters, the ONLY legitimate response is to decline to vote, otherwise one is simply using opposition to some supporters as camouflage for one’s own bad choices.

You can’t be “not anti choice” and aid and abet four more years of a Republican White House. Two or three of the oldest, more liberal Supremes are bound to retire and need replacing. If McCain and Palin are in there, we will likely end up with anti-choice conservative justices, and Roe v. Wade will be overturned.

This thread is like GD-meets-MPSIMS-meets-EMO (at least the attempted “debate” between **Dio **and pinkyvee)

I agree. I’ve noticed a lot of messages on various blogs from similar “Democratic women” who claim disgust at Obama/the liberal media/mistreatment of Hillary that they will vote for McCain. I suppose these “Democratic women” are trying to make it appear that most women in their right minds are truly doing such a thing, ignoring Hillary’s plea from her own mouth to vote for Obama, and changing to the other side. It’s supposed to frighten the liberals, to make them feel that they really have been mean or misogynistic.

When a person says that she (or he) was fired up by Palin’s speech when all it was was deregotary insult and claiming that the Dems are being mean and derisive, I can’t really take the person at their word.

If this person was ever a Democrat, then I’m Batman.

I never made this claim.
Pinky

I have had a lot of anger directed toward me and I have never posted in anger.
This anger can’t all be due to my annoying lack of punctuation (now corrected thanks to you-know-who)!

Pinky

If I understand this correctly, you’re not voting for Obama, even though you’re a Democrat, because of something Gloria did? That’s about as logical as coin flipping.

I was never really a fan of the Colbert Report, but I’m coming around.

Are you claiming to be ElvisL1ves?

The anger directed at you has been with your fairly odd and utterly unsupported claims that Hillary was savaged by “the Democrats,” (not some small segment of the Democratic Party, for which you have also provided no evidence), and for holding a couple of positions that one emotional poster finds offensive.

I will repeat my last previous comment: voting against a candidate because one is angered by some small and undefined segment of that candidate’s supporters is stupid.
I see a number of comments from posters claiming that their revulsion at posters might make them change their vote. I hope that whomever they pick as a candidate is based on their actual agreement with the candidate and not on the utterly idiotic principle of not liking some supporter(s). (I also hope that people making those claims are not giving their true reasons for their choices, because I hope that no one posting here is truly that stupid.)
