Dear fox news

I realize you have little scruples or dignity but could you please not use the headline “Chemical attack feared near Bagdad” unless chemical weapons have actually been used. It really makes your 4th rate “news” program look 10th rate.

I hate the news coverage of this war!

CBS News says

Yeah, but “Chemical Attack Feared Near Baghdad” as a header or on a scroll bar makes people assume that what might have been a chemical attack was launched.

“US: Iraq Set To Use Chemical Weapons” doesn’t, making it clear that the US thinks Iraq will use chemical weapons.

I think you’re missing the point, december.

It’s the use of the literally true statement “Chemical attack feared near Bagdad” as a headline.

It implies that something actually happened near Bagdad, where in fact, nothing has happened. It’s just a statement that the coalition is fearful of chemical attack. Which it has been from the start.

Are those reports coming from the same officials that said before that they had contact with Iraq’s army commanders; with the commanders telling them that they were going to surrender at the sight of American troops?

Yesterday, did Fox news all but report that a chemical munitions plant was found near Najar, Iraq?

I think the rest of the news outlets merely reported a possibly supicious facility was there. I haven’t heard much about it since.

I think it is likely that Iraq does have some chemical weapons somewhere. But lets not jump the gun here, Rupert.

Right, when I first read the head line I took it to mean that there was an actual attack, not the fact that troops are concerned with possible chemical attack.

OK, I see what you and Desmostylus and Captain Amazing mean. That Fox headline is ambiguous. Those same words could be used to express fear that an attack had already taken place.

There’s a “great debate” going on in reference to the OP headline US fnds big chemical weapons factory.

The only thing I posted in the thread was to the Mods to please change it to ** alleged ** etc.
Last I looked the OP header is the same but the "debate"is mostly centered on pro/con war positions.

From what I see here in this thread, more are fed up with this kind of "reporting"on the war video game. And one,at least, reported to being mislead by the headline.Multiply that by millions,OK,maybe in Fox’s case thousands of headline readers, and the fight against ignorance is dealt another blow.

Anybody gets over to that other thread, remember the moron that started it.I know I’ll view anything coming out of that posters keyboard with a lttle suspicion.

THis is the Pit,right.I can, according to the guidelines, take a poster to task, unlike in other threads.

If I need propaganda I can find it in liberal doses on the TV networks.

Seen a few minutes ago on the captions feed of fox news on efnet IRC.

<ctJ> Bill: well, al-jazeera is a propaganda outlet. fox news will tell you the truth.
