Dear harveyc: would you kindly STFU? Thanks.

Over 140 replies in the thread concerned. That’s quite an accomplishment for a first time poster.

Meantime, our friend harveyc will be Overjoyed to return to the Democratic fold.

Although this will give some comfort to disappointed democrat harveyc, doubtless his greatest comfort will come from the knowledge that the Democratic leadership is loathe to take action that might feed a perception that they were inconsiderate or hostile to the military.

The plural of anecdote is not data, but at other MB’s I frequent, I’ve noticed the same thing re: complaints about the Dems “backsliding”/“not moving fast enough”/etc… some of them by long-standing members of the board whom are definitely not trolls.

I can’t speak for harveyc, of course, but this meme works on both sides… the same thing happened when the Repubs took Congress in 1994, the same thing happens when a new President takes over, etc.

Or an Infocom game with a bad parser.

Wait a second. Am I supposed to be upset because the Democrats haven’t stood up to Bush like they promised? Or because they aren’t working in unity with the Republicans like they promised? I forget.

You should be upset because the Democrats aren’t working with Bush to stop the Bush agenda. Write your congressman and demand that he enmgage in bipartisan efforts to stop the Republicans.

This is so insane, I can imagine somebody actually trying to assert it.

That’s beautiful. I’m totally using that IRL.

And thus was born H.R.397: The Comelier, More Supple Congressional Page Act of 2007.
I’ll admit it’s a cheap shot up front. But the joke wouldn’t stay buried.

It might be surprising how many conservative Muslims there are. It could be my limited experience, but I haven’t seen many Islamic gay rights advocates, for example.

We have two morons in the same thread, but they won’t argue with each other.

harveyc and Bugles are both fucking idiots, and we have to deal with their idiocy separately, instead of them taking each other out.

Here you go.

It’s a twofer for the conservatives. First, you accuse your opponents of all kinds of insane plans that they never made. Second, you condemn them for hypocrisy in not carrying out those plans. You get to discredit them twice that way. Expect to see the following in upcoming weeks:

Why haven’t the Democrats enacted their promised plan to tax widows and orphans?
Why haven’t the Democrats made Christianity illegal like they said they were going to?
What’s the delay on the Democrats made abortions mandatory like they promised they would?
Why haven’t the Democrats acted on their plans to make American troops fight with blank ammunition?
When is the Democrat Congress going to introduce the teaching of Darwinian Lesbian Wicca Socialism into pre-schools like they’ve always wanted to?

But seriously our friend harvey is a bellweather telling us that the GOP strategy is to get in early and attack everything about the Democrats whenever it appears, any way you can, facts be damned.

Can’t believe it will last though. Still, godspeed.

Reading the thread is kind of a painful experience, as the deja vu sets in with both bugles and harveyc (haven’t I read this post before?, you ask yourself). I find it telling that harveyc has yet to respond to the direct question asked regarding his political affiliation.

I’m not sure if he’s a young conservative, a very young liberal or a paid shill for some conservative astroturfing effort, but I’m leaning towards door #3.

I’m telling you all, “Democrat Congress” = not-liberal, or even moderate. It’s been a constant meme used by the Republicans for a couple of years now, because they want to dissociate the Democrats with such principles as democracy as much as possible.

Jews for Jesus have a website, too. But there really aren’t that many of them.

Not to mention the delay in starting a campaign to get everyone to burn a flag once a month.
