Death Matches - 19th century Literature Characters

Who’d win the following fights?

Madame DeFarge (“A Tale of Two Cities”) vs. Mrs. Marmeladov (“Crime & Punishment”)

Mr. Darcy (“Pride & Prejudice”) vs. Heathcliff (“Wuthering Heights”)

Catherine Earnshaw (“Wuthering Heights”) vs. Becky Sharpe (“Vanity Fair”)

Pip & Joe the blacksmith (“Great Expectations”) vs. Huck & Jim (“Huckleberry Finn”)

Feel free to throw in new suggestions as well.

I’d go for Darcy over Heathcliff. Heathcliff would rant and rave and then Darcy would just stare him into submission with a disdainful glance.

Similarly Becky Sharpe over Catherine Earnshaw. Cathy would be emoting passionately. Becky would be quietly knifing her.

DeFarge over Marmeladov in 3 rounds
Darcy over Heathcliff in 2
Becky over Catherine, called after 10
Huck & Jim TKO over Pip & Joe in the first 45 seconds

I don’t even know that Becky would be quietly knifing Cathy. I think she’d be shrieking to create a diversion and then stabbing Cathy in the back when she turned. Unless Cathy was already dead, but Becky would still win.

Anne of Green Gables vs. Sara Crewe (that one’s stretching the dates a little)
Inspector Javert vs. Moriarty
Captain Nemo vs. Captain Ahab
Michael Henchard (The Mayor of Casterbridge) vs. Sergeant Troy (Far from the Madding Crowd)
La Belle Dame sans Merci (Keats) vs. Lillian (Tennyson)

Edward Dante (AKA the Count of Monte Cristo) would kick all their butts. If he was prepared.

Huck and Jim would easily beat Pip and Joe. Joe could probably hold his own, but Pip would be totally useless so Huck would tilt the balance. Then Becky Sharpe would mop the floor with both of them while picking bits of Catherine Earnshaw out of her teeth.
