Death Of Calvin And Hobbes

You owe me a box of kleenex. :frowning:

The Good Duplicate clinches it-writing Suzie mash notes and such (of course she doesn’t buy an iota of it); remember that is Calvin’s good side, and not a mere conjured apparition (c.f. Kirk’s “evil” duplicate).

Or a Pooka.

.

Y’know, I don’t think Hobbes would be mad at seeing Calvin and Susie about to make love. Given the tiger’s long admiration of her, he’d be more likely to be pleased that their relationship had deepened. (Of course, he also might ask to be turned around so that he didn’t have to watch).

This thread inspired me to take the C&H collection It’s a Magical World off my shelf and read it clear through today. Good stuff - as good as ever!

I don’t know, I think that Hobbes might spend the session going “Hubba hubba” and whistling. Which might get annoying.

Precisely–Hobbes likes Susie, and Hobbes is ultimately Calvin, ergo Calvin likes Susie whether he can admit it or not. I always got the impression that Calvin had no real criticisms of her other than being, ya know, a slimy girl and liking slimy girl things like tea parties and playing house. (Not that he was above sometimes joining her in such girly pursuits–I’ll always love the soap opera style strip where they’re playing house and get into a huge fight about their baby being a rabbit.)

I would never have thought of that myself, but now I can see no other way for events to unfold.

Those kinds of strips were fantastic. That and them playing doctor (in the link I gave earlier) are easily at the top of the heap for raw funny, even if they lack in awe, thoughtfulness, or the other qualities that made the strip great (other than quality of art, anyway). Calvin and Susie had magnificent chemistry even when they were butting heads.
