Death penalty opponents and supporters: do you think Trump deserves to be executed?

Thinking of the separated families, kids in cages, brutalization of refuges and the abandonment of Kurds on the battlefield. I could pull the trap door lever without a second thought. I generally oppose the death penalty and get that it would not stop the Alt-right. But it would damn well stop tRump. Maybe put some fear into copycats, too.

Although Trump is unusually bad, most modern U.S. presidents have some “rap sheet” simply by virtue of thousands of decisions having to be made in the course of their presidencies. Obama’s administration was the one that first built the cages, deported a great many people, and Obama also ordered plenty of drone strikes that killed collateral-damage civilians, for instance - and his withdrawal from Iraq indirectly led to the rise of ISIS in 2014. GWBush’s war in Iraq directly or indirectly lead to hundreds of thousands of Iraqi deaths. Clinton ordered a strike on the El-Shifa pharmaceutical facility in Sudan that led to loss of innocent life. GHWBush’s Gulf War involved the infamous “Highway of Death” and “Battle of the Junkyard.” Reagan propped up dictators.

Every modern U.S. president could be executed.

I don’t support the death penalty, period. Therefore I don’t support the notion that Trump deserves to be put to death, regardless of his alleged crimes.

Having said that, the vision of him living in protective custody, inside a max-security prison somewhere in the tropics sans aircon and a functioning toilet, reliant upon the goodwill of his guards yada yada…well, you get the idea.

I do not support the death penalty under any circumstance. I would prefer that Don the Con be sentenced to life in Gitmo, together with all those who stormed the Capitol.

I thought it was a principle that we don’t execute mental defectives.

Well, we could take care of that “on Fifth Avenue and no one would care.”
