The sprog wants a red velvet cake for his birthday, then mused aloud that there should be blue velvet or purple velvet cake. Baker, would that be feasible, or is red about it?

I’m playing catch-up. There was a horrible fatal house fire near us that knocked out power from early until just before I got home from work. Today just wasn’t a good day to be a power company employee. Between fires and car crashes taking out poles and all kinds of other stuff, 15 or 20k people were without power a lot of the day. And at irk our belts failed when the power went out and the building went to generators so our shift had almost double volume to deal with. But we handled it and its all done for the day.

I don’t like the frosting with this one, I prefer butter cream, but it’s up to whoever is making it.
I would guess that one could substitute purple paste or gel for the blue.
Maybe for a Firday birthday we could have a rainbow layered cake?
When I got out of work, it was 86 degrees(Amurikin). At 9:15p.m. at night.:eek: I like it warm, but not “channel my inner lobster” hot and humid.

We had pizza for dinner because I was too grumpy and lazy to make anything else.
I did a blue velvet cake once. Substituted blue food coloring for the red was all.
Currently nomming my share of an appetizer assortment from a nearby Chinese restaurant. Most of it was good, the foil-wrapped chicken is GREAT! Also got fried rice. Couldn’t decide between beef or shrimp, so got an order of each (fried rice reheats great for lunches).
Irk was entertaining. Some people were having computer problems, some were having phone problems. Net effect? The newbies got surprise-dropped onto the phones. I think I did OK.
Dinosaurs are extinct; how about some sharks instead?

Hi folks, sorry I’ve been scarce. Busy to say the least.
I hope everyone is well. I’ll try to catch up.
Off on vacation with the kids this week - a hot week for such a thing. We’ll try to hit the water for some of our traditional entertainment; fishing, crabbing and swimming, but just getting teens to wake up before noon is a challenge beyond words.
Otherwise nothing special here.

Ruble back in college one of my friends used to find it amusing to write all of us very large checks (7 figures), made out to things like “Sunny’s Ferrari Fund”. Of course, he had exactly no money. I just kept it on my desk blotter. A girl can dream.

I’m back on the waking-up-too-early schedule - oh well. I made use of the time by getting the dishwasher running, so there’s that. And shortly, I shall leave for the office. **FCD **sees his doc today to discuss next week’s surgicals. Beyond that, who knows what the day holds??
