De'endee Mafia

Although I love playing this game, I am at a loss as to how to fight for myself anymore, if I change the subject, I must be scum, if I carry on fighting I must be scum.

I may seem calmer in this game because I have tried to put a filter between my brain and my mouth (hands). In the game on giraffe I made an awful mistake and I could have outed another scum 2 days (nights) in a row, I was very emotional in that game, RL stuff really got to me. In this game RL stuff is good, cept for the power failure which prevented me from writing. I am often verbose and just spew things out, as some of you know.

If I’m not lynched I will go on a serious scum hunt but at the moment I am not sure of Ed, he brought up the thing about me being coached and then he wonders why people are still bringing it up (if I’ve got that right)

Vote Special Ed

I still don’t get your reasoning as to why I would be coached and still look scummy, as you said, you have played with me before. BTW this is is not an OMGUS if it was I would have voted for choie again.

I think I need coaching on how to use these boards, I want to do nested quotes and quote from various places and spoilers, is anyone giving lessons?

I’ve had the time to go over a few players’ posts in detail. Briefly,

choie

She started off by pushing the “I’m just a newbie, and I don’t know anything” angle hard, but has backed off on that in recent days, probably because several people had mentioned that it was off-putting. Really, that’s a null-tell. I don’t see anything terribly off-putting in her voting history so far.

Septimus

He didn’t like **Askthepizzaguy’s **voting on Day 1, or on Day 2. Other than that, hasn’t even attempted to make a case against anyone, other than a smudge on **LightFoot **in Post 2-525: “Lightfoot’s claim might be a beautiful ploy if she were Scum”

texcat

I took a look at **texcat **because it was his post D2-600 that seems to have given the **Septimus **bandwagon new life. I didn’t find a great deal:

He was suspicous of **KellyCriterion’s **claim on Day 1.
He thinks **Scathach’s **non-reveal indicates the presence of 3rd-Parties
He was very critical of **Askthepizzaguy’s **double-vote on Septimus
He thought **Septimus **and **choie **have been too ‘cozy’

unvote choie

I was put off by her emphasis on her newbieness, but looking at the pattern of her posts I think now it had more to do with her being new than being Scum and trying to project an image.

**Septimus **seems to be laying low. He was rather active early on in discussing the voting mechanics, but doesn’t seem to be trying hard to locate Scum.

But I am more bothered by texcat. He had essentially nothing to say on Day 1 until **Kelly’s **claim, which he criticized, then voted against, and then he disappeared. Day 2 he criticized **ATPG’s **votes against Septimus, then his next post was a criticism of Septimus which fueled the subsequent votes, such that **Septimus **is now one vote away (**texcat’s **perhaps?) from being tied for the vote lead.

vote texcat

What’s stopping you from doing it now before you get lynched?

Check in ATMB, there is information there plus you can practice. You can always “preview” a post without submitting it, too.

Cos it’s 10.30pm and I have no idea when day ends. What is ATMB? I know I can preview a post but when I go there I can’t get back to add more quotes.

**Silverjan is on the chopping block currently. **

huh? Did I give off the indication that I was wondering why people are still bringing it up?

I was pointing out the reason for me making the comment. Here’s a chronolgoy maybe to keep it all in perspective, as it actually had nothing to do with my vote:

  1. I voted for Silver Jan for acting Scummy
  2. AskThePizzaGuy did an analysis of Silver Jan and made some comments on how her behavior appeared to be Town-like
  3. I pointed out how her behavior might appear Town-like to a player new to her style if she were being coached. Just a possibility.

No where did I insinuate that her behavior was perfectly Townie. My reason for voting was not that I thought it possible that she were being coached. I continued to answer questions about my comment while indicating that I was not backing up that comment with the strength of too much evidence, just listing it as a possibility.

I do quite frequently make comments on things that are possible so that we don’t close our minds or go off treating what is an assumption as a fact.

NETA being coached and acting Scummy are not mutually exclusive, btw. She could be coached or even independently attempting to change her playstyle and still act Scummy.

I have looked at the vote count and my immediate reaction was to unvote and vote for **Septimus **(twice) just so I wouldn’t be lynched. I still want to do that but I couldn’t justify it, so although I will not go quietly I will not place a vote on someone that I haven’t considered before. I might change my mind tomorrow

“She” is the cats mother! Stay calm Jan!

you were coached to say that “for obvious reasons”

I don’t think you can. If I understand the “two votes for one person = immutable permavote” rule correctly, you’ve already shot your wad by voting twice for me. That means you’re locked and loaded on me… and in so doing, may have inadvertently aimed at yourself, too.

A bit of an own goal, to use a UK expression.

As far as Askthepizzaguy’s controversial style of play, I do find it frustrating not so much if he’s scum, but if he’s Town. Because it seems to me that if one’s posting style is so, uh, eccentric that it continually puts you in the firing line and makes you The Big Issue, you’re basically distracting your fellow townies from doing real scumhunting.

In short, if you really are town, pizza, maybe it would behoove you to stop taking such darn pride in having a posting style that puts you at the center of the heated attention.

If you’re scum… well, hey, keep it up. We’ll get you on the gibbet where you belong.

Does this mean I think he’s scum? Heckifiknow. I believe I put a FOS on him on Day 1, but right now I simply cannot get a good read on him. He’s WIFOMed the hell outta me, but good.

Just out of curiosity, why **Septimus **necessarily? You could achieve the same result by voting for Askthepizzaguy.
@choie, by my count, Silver Jan is voting for you and for Ed, so she is not ‘locked in’.

Yeah, I even went back and looked at Silver Jan’s posts and I don’t see any posts from her Today with more than the one vote for choie so I’m not sure where she got the Silver Jan is locked in from.

Now you owe me some wine, for obvious reasons! and maybe a new laptop lol, wine down the nose is not good:)

@ choie hehe I did not vote twice for you, so I can do as I please.

@ Suburban Plankton, I could vote for Pizza but I don’t think he’s scum.

I really don’t like the gloating from choie

Oops, my mistake. I got it from Mahaloth’s post:

I apologize, Silver Jan! Vote for whomever you want. Assuming they’re scum, natch.

Edited to add: Yeah, I was gloating, I guess. I thought you’d put yourself in a bad position due to your OMGUS anti-me votes. So yer darn right I was marginally amused by the thought. What can I say, I’m not always sweetness and light!

This sounds far to smug for me and although I was a bit flippant in my original reply this does not sit well with me. It sounds too smurky and yay **Jan **made a mistake and so everyone else will believe me. I so want to change my second vote to choie but I am very afraid of “shooting my wad!”!!!

Her response sounds like yay, I have one over on SJ, which to me looks like SCUM!

@ choie, I am always sweetness and light 'cept when I am a vindictive bee with an itch

I was planning to review, and do productive scumhunting, but I just keep going back and forth in my mind over ATPG. I know a big part of my problem with him is his style, and that is not a good reason to vote someone, but it is just exhausting having to disentangle that reaction from everything he says. I would like to not have to think about him so much, but I have this vote on him, and he is pretty near the lynch lead, and I don’t really want to lynch him if he’s not scum.

In his favour: a number of people who say he seems Town to them. They can’t all be scum-buddies.

Against him: the blythe way he chucks votes around, with little attempt at justification. On Day 1, this was sort of understandable, but today he has two votes on Septimus that he himself is only 40% comfortable with, and which are basically OMGUS votes. Sometimes people don’t make cases because they are pressed for time, or not that involved, but that does not seem to be the case for ATPG. He says he votes to put pressure on people, but I don’t really see how this works, if they are not attached to cases. I feel at a disadvantage here, because this seems to be one of those ‘advanced techniques’ that I know experienced players use but I don’t have the expertise for, so it’s all space biscuits as far as I’m concerned.

Conclusion: Style aside, I am not sure if he is town playing a long game, or scum hiding in plain sight. A few people seem to want him, so they can have him.

unvote Askthepizzaguy
