One of my favorite movies is “Labryinth”. It poses some interesting questions, questions I wonder if Jim Henson realized he was posing when he created this film with George Lucas and Brian Froud.

Yeah, maybe, but that article was kinda weak. There was a lot of the movie before the ballroom scene, and they would’ve done well to touch on that.
I like to believe that Jim Henson was innocent, but I have no doubt that George Lucas deliberately threw in all the creepy Freudian Electra-complex stuff he could in an attempt to make a movie to appeal to adolescent girls.
David Bowie’s hot. Love those tight pants.
Kn(sorry - shallow, non-intellectual post. But I couldn’t resist)ckers
Plus, I just figured Jareth was dancing with Sara just because he wanted her to waste time and give up the quest, not because he had entered some realm created by her mind where they could both be free of their given roles in the story.
Jareth may have a little thing for Sara, but only so long as she do what he wants, and be another of his playthings, like the goblins (remember the scene at the end, where he says something like, “You’ll be queen with powers untold, all you have to do is obey me.”? The ballroom scene is another extension of that.
It’s more of an ewey date-rape scene IMO. She eats the enchanted fruit, goes into dream world where she dances with Jareth (towards whom she has shown no interest before), and it’s all very sensual. There’s nothing to indicate that she actually has interest in him, or that it’s anything other than the spelled/drugged peach that’s keeping her there.
For your love of DB’s tight pants, Kn*ckers: David Bowie’s Area.
