GIGO I take your post with the humor with which it seems intended.
Mr. Mace, someone pee in your coffee this morning? :dubious: A question can be valid to others that doesn’t seem so to you. May I bow before your omniscience?
Of course, you and Harborwolf are both correct. I flew off the handle finding the Giraffe jab and read too much into it. As far as I know there’s no real animosity between us. They know I’m their hero.
Moment of oversensitivity, fit of pique, whatever. Thread ain’t about me so I’ll leave it at that. Sorry for the outburst.
If you go to Chez Panisse at the right season, they do a superb metacohesive non-realitly lightly sauteed in cream of primordial essence. It’s served with side orders of pickled world spirit and broasted anthromorphized inanimate process. For dessert I recommend the chocolate covered monads. The whole thing whould be washed down with chilled vital essence.
I find the metacohesive non-reality at Chez Panisse to lack a certain ensoucience, a certain je ne sais quoi - cynical rather than ironic, down-hearted rather than downbeat. It just misses the proper epistomological tang, the afterglow that should linger on the palate and complete the roundness of the aesthetic experience.
There are multitudes of self-styled experts on the Middle East in the Western Media.
Few of them speak Arabic. Collounsbury did: he was a true regional expert on a topic populated by blowhards. Furthermore, he took care not to stray too far from his areas of expertise. (He also broke the Board’s rules, but that’s another matter.)
Some are more qualified to evaluate Collounsbury’s skill-set than others.
Sure. But the strong implication by istara in that post is that she’s better qualified to judge the relative worthiness of Collounsbury’s posts simply because she happens to live in that particular region of the globe. I don’t think happenstance of residence has any bearing at all on academic qualifications.
Liberal’s not a liberal - except in the classic sense as it was understood by the founders of the United States. Stick that in your paradigm and smoke it.
In this country, you gotta make the money first. Then, when you get the money, you get the power. Then, when you get the power, then you get the women. Then, when you get the women, you get the metacohensive nonrealities. Then…
