HippiePinkoCommie comes to mind…
Y’all heard it here first folks! The Lissars like to hit the sauce!
Jeez, don’t hold back. Tell us how you really feel.
I make dang good tacos. Just thought I’d report that.

Ok, so work was tough and I left late-even though I had to call a neighbor to check on #2 son since he wasn’t answering the phone and says he has lost his key in the bushes-- to find traffic horrid due to heavy rain (Gustav lives); go to the HS to pick up #1 son. Get him home, find the toilet leaking in the powder room. Great. Query #2 son re key(?)
Go out in rain in scrubs and lab coat to find key which #2 son was twirling around and “it slipped”. Twilight is here. Raining steady, large drops–soon soaked to skin. Lab coat now ruined due to muck off hedge and general dirt. Come in, change clothes. Ask boys to find me a flashlight. #2 son appears with an LED light suitable for use on a key chain. Gah. Keep him out with me to help look. Yell at #1 son that he is 16 and should be able to find me a goddamned flashlight. Later apologize when he brings out the only flashlight he can find–on last of battery. Emergency light (what I wanted) had no batteries at all, so is useless in erm, an emergency. Dig through hedge–more (frankly) to teach #2 son to never, ever do this kind of thing again, crawl around mulch and under deck where the gush of rainwater ran into the open gap at the back of pants as I crouched. Found the m*fing key at last. Am now eating a dinner of Cheerios. #2 son has had a bath and is doing homework.
And how was YOUR day?
Wow, rigs, my day wasn’t as bad as yours. Mine was just frustrating in general because one of the systems I use to mine data isn’t letting me in. I spent all day pretty much trying to gain access to it. Gah! I need this system to run my some of my reports, so I am hoping all will be resolved by tomorrow.
beebs, make me a sammich!
I need to get dinner going soon. Yet another night of eating healthy and low fat.
All of you in the storms’ paths keep safe and keep dry. FCM, make sure you have plenty of those all powerful plastic bags on hand!
Well, I guess I should change out of my suit and find something to lounge around in.
Hmmm, football decision sounds like something I’d expect here in Columbus, Spaz (football is sacred, you know). Also, I read through the *nipple wall *sentence too fast and was way . Now I’m down to amused.
Dontcha wonder who thought up the stuff behind those conditions, FCM? Stay safe.
Welcome back, DogMom! I really love seeing all these names that have been listed as guest for ages coming back and able to join in the fun again. Oooooh, does anyone know if welby knows he can post again?
I’m not having trouble with the smilies or the bold/italic/underline buttons, but the colors seem disabled. I wonder if some of it is a browser thing? I’m using Firefox 3.0.1 for Mac PPC.
I’ve updated the MMP schedule to put Mahna in for the 8th. Do you want me to add you to the next available, Rebo? That would be October 6, AKA the first Monday in October. (Isn’t that a movie? You could do a tribute to the Supreme Court. Or to the Supremes.)
Why yes, I’m punchy, why do you ask? For one thing, I found out today that when my boss moves to his new job, I get to inherit his current boss, who is a high-maintenance type. The new job is an excellent move for current boss as he’s been miserable for over a year and the new job sounds like it should be a great fit. Also, it means that he’s not leaving our employer (which would have made me sad) and we can go back to being friends without worrying about the boss/employee stuff getting in the way. I think my temperament is better suited to new boss, but it’s still going to be a stressful transition. Not sure if it’s permanent or temporary, but I’m sure it won’t be boring.
And despite these odd developments, I think my day was better than yours, rigs.
Didn’t get the camel recipe posted yesterday due to the access issues. Jerry’s hack seems to have helped, so I’m hoping I can rescue the recipe and update the blog.
Need to make a phone call first, though.
I know I’ve missed a bunch. Hugs to all…

:Passes adult beverage of choice to rigs:
I happen to LIKE Sarah, and even I think her voice is indistinguishable from Shrillary’s.
I went to the Emergency Management briefing tonight.
(Mostly) good news: Cottonfield County is expecting 12-15 hours of wind exceeding 40 MPH, with maximum 60 MPH sustained, gusts to 70; 3-5 inches of rain; 2-3 foot surge in the Chowan River; expected damage will be the odd limb from a tree, or wildfires in front of the rain. Downside is that we’ll in tornado central, and the center of rotation will pass within 15 miles of the VunderLair.
Bad news: Hanna is a dress rehearsal for Ike. Kick the baby!
Can this be extrapolated for Armpit County as well? The center’s supposed to pass over me, too.
Don’t kick the baby.
<knocks that back in one snort> Ta. needed that. I feel worst about the yelling–I was just so pissed–it was such a stupid thing and it was so wet. The leaves etc are drenched etc. My fury evaporated immediately upon finding the key and suddenly the situation was funny. Did you all know I cannot lose things? I probably have some OCD in me, but I get wild when I lose things (or when things are lost). Absolutely raving. Poor numbered sons… crap mother, I am… <gets maudlin from scotch shot; wanders off>
In other news, Friday looks like a nice day at work (cross your fingers). Re the baby clothes–can you roll up some too big ones? If you go out and buy Yuppie baby clothes, I’m opening up a can of whoop ass on you. I got 90% of my baby clothes from church and garage sales and places like Value City. Let Grandma buy the “aw, how sweet” stuff at retail–you know that as a crawler etc, Gnat is much too busy and messy to mess around with photo-shoot clothes. Lecture over.
I wanna try Chalet sauce. It sounds a lot like the sauce made in Death Chicken. Recipe to follow when I have time (ie Saturday).
Tired. Should go to bed. Don’t really wanna, though.
Sleepy.
Go
To
Bed.
Nitey Nite Soapy! Sweet dreams!
rigs I shall not rest easy until I have in my possession the recipe for Death Chicken. I drool in anticipation!
On that note, da bear must too go Nitey Nite.
Nitey Nite Y’all!
I cannot believe that no one said Poof! You’re a sammich!
skimmed, didn’t retain a thing - hugs all around, whether needed or not
My quartet sang well tonight, and we received a standing ovation. We wore lobster bibs and held a red checkered tablecloth in front of us. We’re going to stay together and start working on some legit songs.
I have a joke (some of you might not fully get it, but it’s still funny)
Rabbi Horowitz was on his way home from shul when he noticed Moishe across the street going in to a chinese take out/eat in place. The Rabbi crossed the street and watched as Moishe ordered dinner, sat, and ate it.
When Moishe left the store, the Rabbi confronted him.
“Moishe! Nu? Vas machte?”
“What?”
“I saw you in there! You’ve broken Kasreth!”
“Wait, you saw me go in?”
“Yes”
“You watched me order something?”
“Yes”
“and take it to a table and sit down?”
“Yes”
“Did you see me eat it?”
“Yes! Yes, I saw everything!”
“Well then,” commented Moishe, “it was all under a rabbi’s supervision!”
and with that - g’nite!
Home and tired. If Ike wrecks my vacation, I will kick the baby.
rigs, losing things doesn’t bother me. Good thing, because I’d lose my ass if it wasn’t screwed on tight.
Welcome DogMom!! Are you my mom or Nelly’s?
Sorry about the pup, LiLi
Mork, that was taken at Shelley Lake. Only 3 miles from home.
You’re right Beebs, I got all the rouble I needed at Fathom.
Oh, yeah, sorry about the puppy, LiLi. Still, I’m glad he’s got humans to spoil him silly. (Hope I’m remembering correctly that he’s a boy; and yes, I know he’s not technically a puppy.)
Funny joke, rosie.
I’m doing important Mumper Recipe research and have two questions:
Rebo, do you think this recipe that you posted last week is based on this one? You said you thought it had come from the blog and they seem pretty similar. Which leads to question…
How do we want to handle variations? Rebo’s version could go in a comment, or I could add it as its own recipe and include a reference and link to Bobbio’s. Opinions?
It’s late and I should be in bed. Guess I’ll make an attempt at sleep.
GT
FWIW, my recipe is something I made once and liked a lot, and it came from a Doper.
I did not ask for further complications.
Mornin’ all. Upgrade glitches further complicated by sh*tty internet today. :smack:
Ramadan is progressing apace - 4 down, 26 to go!
Have a good day!
And yet you get them anyway! Ain’t life grand?
My daughter came over to pick up her and the Grandboy’s new shoes–she has anything she buys online shipped here since there have been multiple problems with things getting lost over at her place. Grandboy puts on his new shoes, wanders around in them a bit, then states that they’re too tight. I measure his toes, and he’s right up to the end of the shoe–which he was correctly measured for less than two weeks ago! Size 9.5 men’s shoes! He’s twelve! Himself wears an 11.5! This is ridiculous–there’s no way he could have grown a full shoe size in a week and a half, yet he seems to have done just that. Now daughter has to send them back for the next size up, and he’ll probably have outgrown THOSE by the time they get here!
This makes me tired–I’m going to bed.
Thanks for the name suggestions, she’s cogitatin’… For the record, she’s the only person I’ve ever actually encouraged to register an account here–she’d be such an asset and it’d be good for her, too.
I’m off for tonight, just here to ~wave~ to the night crew.
Keep good watch tonight, folks.
I just told my ISP to turn off the automatic robots and look at reality. They just sent me an email that says they can’t provision DSL to my home. The same home that’s had DSL with that same ISP for over three years. :smack:
It’s not really their fault - I had the same problem getting service here three years ago. Once I told them that the previous owner had DSL here, they looked more closely and I suddenly went from 25,000 feet from the phone company (way too far) down to 4,000 feet from a thing called a remote terminal. But still, it’s silly and the whole “We’ll pretend not to know that we’re already supplying your DSL while saying it’s impossible to have DSL” thing is a bit surreal.
Rigs, I know this is coming in late, but… yikes! What a day! Here, I think you earned starting Firday off with another nip of something
**Aleq **-- he’s 12? Then growing a half size in a fortnight makes perfect sense. A full size in the same time frame is merely plausible…
**Dotty **-- hope that in the confines of your own home you can munch to your heart’s delight while actually seeing you food! If not, here’s a virtual sammich to tide you over until it’s dark enough to brink out the heart-attack goodies!
Every one in the way of the Alphabet Soup of tropical storms – stay safe. Please do **not **come back here with “great” stories to tell!
Hi, Roo! Don’t seem to cross paths that much here lately. I miss making flirty remarks at you
^

So here’s one…
**Rosie **-- that’s a good one! Ruined only very slightly by the choice cuisine… (Chinese is actually very easy to “kosherify” – just lay off the pork and the shrimps and you’re golden.)
It’s Firday! Which means the weekend! Which also means Special Teen will be home for the weekend in about 2 hours. It’s only been a week of school and we miss her already. And she won’t be home next weekend, either. I see a drive to Jerusalem in my future…
ETA: Have I mentioned I love setting up the mad scramble for the next “first!”
