I have me a case of the crud. I also have a Dr appt at 0900. I suspect my cold is now bronchitis. I am miserable. Hijack away!
My Cold from Hell from a couple weeks back wasn’t bronchitis, but I would have made a good soundtrack for an advertisement for an anti-TB vaccine. Every time I went into a coughing spasm I sounded as if I was trying to hack up a chunk of lung. Couldn’t drive because of the risk of having one of those behind the wheel. I’m lucky to have a ton of supermarkets and other food stores within a 10’ walk, because I needed more and different food than usual: chicken stock in a box may not be the best but damn it felt good!
Now I’m still sneezing and coughing but it’s due to all those trees and grasses having an orgy. If I close the house shut I roast (no a/c), if I open windows I better take an antitusive and an anticongestant. Yay. But hey, I know the name of the active ingredients for the OTC versions: the people at the pharmacy ask “allergies?” before heading to get them (if I indicated it’s something else they might offer a different compound as appropriate).
ETA: HAH!
Re-ETA: I’m getting ads for a website selling clothing for women over 50. Two years to go and I don’t buy clothes online anyway
My cough from hell has subsided to a few random episodes, thank goodness. Now, if only my shoulder from hell would get better. I thought the steroids were helping, but all they’ve seem to have done is make my arm feel like jello. Oddly enough, even tho on one hand my arm feels weak and useless, I can still lift and carry just fine - like the 40# box of kitteh litter I hefted out of the trunk and into the garage.
We had a gloriously cool night and today is supposed to be mild and loverly. Naturally, I’ll be stuck inside. dammit. But there’s surgical copays to pay, so off I go.
Happy Moanday, all!!
Good Mornin’ Y’all! Up, caffienated, purtified and shevelled, so no YAWN ‘Tis a very hot and humid 76 Amurrkin out and cloudyish with a predicted high of 98 for the day and maybe afternoon/evenin’ rain/tstorms/apocalypse. We shall see. I remain skeptical. :dubious: We’re goin’ to MickeyD’s for brekkie and then OYKW shall head out to do some home monitorin’ visits around town whilst I head down to the southwest forty after a quick stop by the orifice. That will take up most of my irkday what with all the drivin’ and such. Rah.
Hope all you sickies, hurties, etc feel better soonest.
I hear rumblin’s from the bedroom so I guess OYKW is ready to go. Mickey D’s and irk here we come!
Happy Moanday Y’all!
I made it to the office. I have nothing to do. My time card was rejected because I didn’t list 40 hours, but they don’t have a non-paid-leave category and I have no leave to put down. Gotta talk to the boss when he drags his butt in here.
The guy who empties our trash is a pleasant enough fellow, but MAN does he love to TALK!!! I heard all about his grandkid’s b-day party and his flaky daughter and his idiot son in law… and why he didn’t get his grass mowed… At least he doesn’t discuss politics. I’m pretty sure he’s way farther to the right than I ever could be.
I can has nappage?
No illness to report (yet), but after doing eight youth soccer games Friday-Sunday in 85-95F heat (no clouds to speak of), I am cooked medium-well and walking like a little old man this morning, so maybe that counts.
Need to go to the bank today, but outside of that I think a ‘chill’ day is in order. Will go and forage my refrigerator for sustinance shortly.
Blurf.
:achoo: :sniiiiiiiiiffffffff:
Up, caffeinated, and sheveled. Working closing shift tonight. I am not allergic to anything. Hope the rest of you feel better.
MetalMouse, I can’t decide if you’re some kind of super man or of you’re just out of your freekin’ mind!!! EIGHT SOCCER GAMES?!?!?!?!??! In that heat?? I was outside for about 30 minutes, lopping down a few small trees that I didn’t want on the hill, and the heat and humidity kicked my butt.
Boss finally showed up and I told him I need work. We’ll see how long it takes to get back to me. Just found out one of the biggies I recently finished is likely to be changed a good bit by them sneaky electrical engineers. Ya can’t trust them guys - it’s all smoke and mirrors!!!
*<waiting for **BBBobbio *to come back and pitch a fit! :p>
Saw the Doc and got a shot and pills and cough syrup. My trip to Ga is Thursday. I have already postponed it one time. Doc says I will probably feel ok by Thursday. I did not even feel like dropping off the scripts. Hubs will have to go get the medicine. I am back in the bed. Sick.
**Butters **- in my non-medical opinion, you’re exhausted from all the work and stresses you’ve been dealing with. Get much rest, please!!
Having a McLunch because I didn’t pack anything today. So there’s that.
Oh dear, not a great week for sickies and hurties then - get better soon! I had the cold and cough from hell a while ago but fortunately I have recovered without the need for medication. I’m not looking forward to getting anything else like that in the near future, I don’t have time to be ill!
I’ve had a crazy busy day so far, and we have exam boards all week so I’m going to be spending all my time fixing things that have gone wrong with those. Apparently my postgrad one wasn’t as fantastic as I thought it was, so I’ve got some jumped up eejit demanding to come over to the office tomorrow and tell me the error of my ways.
I am bailing out now, got a band to go and see tonight. I had a spare ticket and managed to get an interested friend to come along since 'im indoors has gone off darn sarf to work and I am now officially alone and unsupervised during the week!
tldr will post later

My MiL has decided she is going to grace us with a surprise visit to the VunderLair tomorrow.
Good morning folks;
All quiet here. There was some talk of sending me to Orlando but I have important plans here this week so (gladly) I couldn’t go. I have no interest in seeing that anyway.
I had moved over to a nightside schedule after having been dayside the past 4 years, and it’s been a treat. I did it mainly because one of my coworkers who has been stuck on nightside needed a break (the schedule was killing him); also I needed a change of scenery too. They’ve still been calling me in early a lot anyway.
Visited my parents over the weekend as I try to do at least every month if not more often. They are in their mid eighties and it’s nice to make sure they are chugging along (they are doing remarkably well given their age). Traffic coming home was worse that usual but the AC worked well and the music enjoyable.
That’s all I have -
UGH!
The dog had me up night.
I feel like hell.
Whomsoever starts next week could call it “The So You Can Rest Monday Morning Post”.
**tugig **- Are you an only child or the only one close enough to check in on your folks regularly? Or is it just a really good excuse to go to the Eastern Shore?
Quickie break - my program crashed. Guess I should restart and do some work again…
Virtual chicken soup and antihistamines to butters and all of the rest of you sickies.

I don’t get too sneezy-wheezy this time of year. But when the trees are doing something spectacular? There’s enough crap coming from my lungs and nose to slime half the county.
Oh yeah. Those are the best.
This morning my 130lb dog/horse had to go back to the vet for his day of tests. He refused to get into the car. I felt like I was trailering a horse. Open the far door, walk through myself, call from the other side, lure with food. Take his buddy in first. Nothing worked. It took an hour. I finally I had to put his prong collar on him so he couldn’t back up, have my son keep a steady pressure moving forward, while I picked up one foot at a time and heaved. I told the vet he would need anti-anxiety meds next time. Poor guy. I used to be able to lift my smaller dogs (80 pounds ish) into the car, but I just could not manage to lift the bear.
After some coffee to recover, I need to move on to the rest of the day. Sigh.
Get well sickies.
