deleteing your own posts/threads

Recently I started a new thread, then immediately realized I had posted in the wrong forum. Within the 5 minute edit window I hit the edit button and looked for a way to delete the post, but couldn’t find one.

Does any such thing exist? If so, where is it? If not, could it be added? Functional within the 5 minute window, of course.

Not directly, but you can do what others have done in similar situations: edit out all the text and include a reason to explain the deletion (i.e., “posted to the wrong forum,” “double posted,” etc.) If you really want it gone altogether, you can report the post before yours and explain that you want the next post by you to be deleted; AFAIK, most of the mods don’t mind doing little things like that, within reason.

It does not exist yet. Not a terrible idea to allow us to delete a thread altogether in the first 5 minutes. Especially as we cannot report our own posts except by Email.

In the meantime, you can edit the post and put a **bolded request ** in to “please report this thread so a helpful Moderator could move it to the correct forum.”

Seconded with a vengeance.

As Nelson lay dying he gazed up at his friend and murmered “Kiss me, Hardy”
His friend looked down at him and replied “Kiss your what?

Yes, it does; it’s simply a standard vB option which hasn’t been enabled for regular members. One of the admins would have to change the permissions which restrict who can do what. It’s basically just a single checkbox that has to be selected.

Posting in the wrong forum again? Quick, you’ve got two minutes to edit.

OK, one minute.
ETA: Blast it!

Oh bugger

Should have been this thread.
