Did they ever determine where Larry Flynt got the Delorean tape or did he take that secret with him to the grave? I’m not finding a specific answer on the web.
He later claimed that the tape was a fake.
Flynt Sentenced to 60 Days for Improprieties - Los Angeles Times (latimes.com)
"He had been counting out crumpled dollar bills he brought to pay a $10,000 contempt of court fine. U.S. District Judge Robert Takasugi fined Flynt $10,000 daily–and later raised the fine to $20,000 daily–for his refusal to reveal the source of an audio tape relevant to the John DeLorean cocaine case.
Flynt later said that the tape was a fake."
Yes, but he lied consistently. And I read sources after he made that claim indicating that he reversed himself…again. One doesn’t know what to believe.
The one person who would know he should use a scanner to detect and record local radio sources… is DeLorean himself. However, it makes DeLorean appear to have something to hide if he reveals that he did it himself, so he might use Larry Flynt to reveal the recordings ? He might even sell the recordings to Flynt, because Flynt pays for such things and then releases it publically …
Yeah, but I’m not trying to debate or speculate where he got it.
I’m asking if it has ever been actually determined where he got it. And it appears that the answer no.
Flynt did say at one point it was fake but then later reversed himself.
And I believe he was talking about a separate audio tape, not the video.
