Barack’s nailed this. That piece with him talking to his family. Perfect.
I found Michelle Obama off-putting on the stump, but she did a very nice job reintroducing herself to the American people. The little girls are a cute touch as well.
“Hi Daddy!” - classic. Sasha Obama has great timing.
I like Obama today. The satellite feed was a nice, normal touch and is exactly how we should be seeing him. I am tired of the hero worship and deification, and it was great to see him as an ordinary dad applying for an extraordinary job.
Wow. I’d vote for her.
A lot of people around where I live (PA/NJ) talk like that. Maybe she picked it up at Princeton.
I’m going to vote for the guy, but you think that isn’t hero worship what the whole convention is about?
An excellent first day.
I can’t believe I’m going to have to watch the acceptance speech on my laptop!
She was real good. I’d hate to be the poor Hannity intern who has to pick through that speech for attack material.
That was a tremendous speech, she hit that one out of the park. That part about embracing our hopes instead our fears, and our dreams instead of our doubts crystallized for me the differences between the Democrats and the Republicans. That will resonate with all people who are tired of the last eight years and are ready for change.
I thought it was a warm and appealing speech. I doubt even Hannity could find anything to twist from it, but I’m sure the right will find some way to attack it anyway. The McCanaanites are probably making an ad right now. Some woman on Fox is accusing it of being a “laundry list of liberalsim,” because she talked about volunteerism and about Barack choosing Chicago over Wall Street.
The shout out to Hillary was nice too, and I think well recieved.
I hate this bitch in the McCain ad who’s pretending she used to be a Hillary supporter.
They are not officially in nomination yet. You will get sick of them soon enough.
As an Oregon State fan, I loved seeing Craig Robinson introduce his sister. Go Beavers, indeed! Their basketball team has sucked since '90, but historically they’ve been a winning team. I wait to see how they’ll improve in his first year.
I tried to watch it on MSNBC, but the huge graphics irritated me. I flipped it on O’Reilly for a little bit and saw him talking to Dick Morris. Thankfully, there is CSPAN.
I only saw the Pelosi and Michelle Obama speeches. Night and day. Pelosi was horrible and Michelle was very impressive.
She was actually a Clinton delegate until she started making noises about voting for McCain if Obama got the nomination. She was ejected by the Wisconsin Democratic Party.
Man, those Obamas sure are bunch of elitists, what with growing up on the south side of Chicago and being raised by a single parent, etc. How are regular people supposed to relate to that?
I knew Michelle Obama was a smart and strong woman, but, WOW, she really knocked it out of the park tonight. I can’t think of any potential/sitting First Lady( well, yep, Hillary can, obviously) that could take a long sustained speech like that to the great effect. No evidence of teleprompter effort, she just knocked it out, with guts and heart.
This world is changing, for the better, no matter what the heave and ho crap we have to hoe till turned.
After parsing what I think you meant, actually, this particular convention might need to be about humanizing and connecting the candidate to the electorate. There was a recent poll that reported a large percentage of voters were tired of hearing about Obama. I’m voting for the guy as well, and if he wants more to do so, it’s time to change the script.
And this is in Great Debates because? This is a MPSIMS fluff-fest.
…Because political rallies are by their very nature material for debate?
I’d expect there are non-Obama supporters who watched the thing as well, and who have opinions about what went on that…differ…from what we’ve read here so far. I’d think the OP posted this in GD with the expectation that representatives of that constituency also would like to say something about the convention.

Interesting. Pat Buchanan on MSNBC also said it was a very good speech until the end when she tacked on a “laundry list of liberalism.” Sounds like they got loaded up with their talking points before the night began. Nice.
