Okay, I’ve got a list of tonight’s speakers. First of all, tonight’s theme is “A Bold Vision for America’s Future,” so I guess looking forward is what we can expect from these folks (in no particular order):
Barack Obama
Michelle Obama
Doug Emhoff
Sen. Bernie Sanders
Sen Chuck Schumer
Sen. Tammy Duckworth
Gov. Michelle Lujam Grisham
Gov. J.B. Pritzker
Stephanie Grisham
I don’t know if there will be any musical performances. If so, the names of the performers are not being shown on the news I’m watching. But a band was doing a sound check earlier, so who knows?
I was listening to rightwing WABC after the DNC last night and they were taking phone calls. One caller says “How come they didn’t have any wrestlers like the RNC?” They hung up.
Aren’t there supposed to be musical numbers involved in what I like to call the “Rock & Roll Call of the States” when the delegates cast their votes?
Which brings up the question: will anybody dare not vote for Harris? Technically, this isn’t the “binding” vote - that already happened virtually, in order to prevent Ohio Republicans from shenanigans that would keep Harris off of the ballot in that state - so I don’t think there’s a requirement that pledged delegates vote for their pledged candidate.
I look forward to another Obama DNC speech.
But, for those not familiar with JB Pritzker, this is a man who is not intimidated by Donald Trump. I also look forward to the Governor’s speech.
Indeed. I am glad and encouraged that she (and her supporters) kept steady and avoided what seemed to be an urge by some on the left of wanting to do a speedrun to the top, which in turn defused the right’s attempt at straw-womanning her into a caricature of what’s wrong with the progressives.
And if she does not get to the presidential race, well, nothing wrong with one day being Speaker or Chair of Ways and Means. Realistically out of any dozen up and comers you can name for a future presidential prospect, only one or two may ever even be in the ticket.
Did you see the retired Teamsters guy who just spoke? I didn’t catch his name. I guess all the Black Teamsters have endorsed Harris and walked away from O’Brien, completely disregarding him.
