Someone suggested that the way to get everything done was for the convention to start earlier each night, but I immediately thought, “Sure, and then Bill Clinton would speak for another 25 minutes.”
Not a bad idea. After the balloons drop, I would like to see a tutorial of sorts about what everybody can do besides just voting. Explain where donations go and what the limits are. Give out phone numbers to call to volunteer. Some advise on how to make the argument to an undecided voter. And most of all, despite the efforts of the GOP, how to make sure you are registered and that your vote will be counted.
I used to tell my late husband, “If people listened to ThelmaLou, the world would go around a lot faster.” And he would reply, “It’s going around plenty fast as it is.”
@Elmer_J.Fudd Now, THAT is a freakin’ brilliant idea!!
Just catching up and watching Kenan Thompson’s piece where he has the giant copy of the Project 2025 book. I had little doubt it was a nice, oversized prop. But that was confirmed when then light hit it right. You can see the original embossed title behind the mocked up artwork. It’s an El Greco art book.
I mean, you could make the argument* that the protagonist of that song is the kind of person that the Republicans would overlook but might have the chance to improve their situation under a Harris administration.
The scheduling confuses me. Fourteen million sets of eyeballs is a good number, but… On a work night, starting at 6:30 after East Coast 9-5 folks are home, but then wrapping up with the main speaker starting at 11:30 only accommodates the viewers on the West Coast. Here’s a map of the US population distribution:
For four nights people who care can stay up past their bedtime. What do people do when a basketball or football game goes over? What about the Olympics?
The people that are watching it like its their favorite football team are already voting for Harris. If you are watching a football game and it’s not your favorite team you go to bed when it goes over and you have to work in the morning.
I’m always very grateful I live on the West Coast. When I lived on the East Coast, I’d miss a lot of West Coast games and had to catch up in the morning.
As far as the organization of the convention is concerned… we’ve been watching on msnbc and I don’t know if it was a segment they put together or if it was one of the “between acts” videos they’ve been playing at the convention, but there was a segment last night or the night before about a group of ladies calling themselves “the colored girls”, who I guess were aides to Jesse Jackson way back when he ran, and now they’ve all got top positions with the Democratic National Committee and I believe they were the ones responsible for putting this spectacle together. And all I can say is well done ladies, well done!
(Did anyone else see that segment and am I remembering it right?)
Snoop praised Trump back in January. Kendrick would’ve been nice. California had the only audible lyrics (aside from Lil Jon). “Not like us” works for California.
