Dems - Defend your Senators holding the budget bill hostage

Republicans that support Trump remind me of people that buy shitloads of lottery tickets instead of using the money to pay the pills-After a while they have invested so much in the lottery that they think that if back out now and do the right thing they won’t come out ahead…and besides, that lottery could pay off, right? At this point, they are even willing to accept a Pyrrhic victory, as long as the word “victory” is there somewhere.

Famed man-about-town Stephen Miller, he of the heartbreakingly good looks and legendary charm, shoo-in for Sexiest Man Alive 2018— you’d never heard of before?

That 500 Billion talking point is mostly talk and misleading too, in virtually all the forms the Republicans made it throughout the years.

So I think that taking those misleading efforts into consideration then we should look at what the Democrats are telling us about the latest $500 billion item, it is more likely to lead to cuts, and not only on Medicare.

I think many of his supporters think getting $1 on a $10 ticket is winning.

My understanding was that the bill that most Dems voted against would’ve funded CHIP for 6 years.

I don’t have strong feelings on the matter. If a deal is worked out whereby they get a green card, that’s ok with me. If they get deported, that’s ok with me too.

The Republicans seem to think so since they refuse to bring up a clean CHIP bill but instead insist on scoring political points off the well-being of infants and children.

Oh, what the hell … Cite?

That’s an improvement on blaming the Democrats for everything, we must admit. Still got some ways to go, though, pard.

I’m coming in this debate late, and I haven’t read all the posts … so if this has been covered already, please forgive me my laziness …

Oregon voted 2 yeas on the Sep 7th CR, split on the Dec 7th CR, 2 nays on Dec 21st and again 2 nays on Jan 19th … from CNBC’s “Here’s how your senators voted on the government shutdown” - Jan 20th 2018

Oh the humanity … they’ve locked the gates at the Democratic People’s Republic of Malheur National Wildlife Refuge … the South Entrance to Crater Lake NP is closed (the North Entrance was closed this fall due to snow) … the military has stopped moth-balling the Umatilla Weapons Depot (chemical weapon incineration) … there’s dozens of cows wandering aimlessly in the High Desert without Federal Oversight … no one from the Dep’t of Interior will be banging on my front door to tell me to mow my lawn again …

They have to hold out for DACA, or we’ll recall them and send someone who will block everything until DACA is sent to the President … if this means shutting down our one and only national park, so be it … that’s a price Oregon’s willing to pay … neither of them is up for re-election, but this kind of brinksmanship is what will get them re-elected in the future …

Is there some recall mechanism for Senators in Oregon?

He probably described it in the parts he elided.

U.S. Senators-yes. State Senators-No.

The Democrats say they are agreeing to the GOP offer to pass another short-term CR in exchange for bringing DACA debate to the floor. This means the next CR vote will not have CHIP to drive it, but will have whatever acts Congressional leadership take on DACA. They aren’t giving up much, but promises aren’t worth much, either.

That’s it? That’s all you’ve got? How convenient.

With McConnell? His promises aren’t worth the paper they’re written on.

Agreed, but at the same time, this just gives them another leverage point because it’s another short-term CR. I don’t hate it.

So … everyone meet back here in three weeks to continue this discussion?

Peace out!

Maybe I’ll get lucky and get hit by a bus before then.

More avoidance, I was referring to the American kids that will lose their Parents, are you ok with them having their parents deported? Their families separated?

A completely random funny moment. A reporter’s phone autocorrected “Cortez Masto” to “Cortez Mastodon.” According to the reporter, Cortez Mastodon voted no on the CR.
