…For tricking me with such a gross set-up! I was watching Dennis Miller just now, and he was talking about ‘An award winning cake’ while the camera had an extreme close-up to something white.
The camera pans out…revealing a gigantic mangled up squid…DOESNT LOOK LIKE A CAKE TO ME!
I’m sorry, but when I’m thinking of ‘cake’, ‘giant manged up squid’ doesn’t come to mind. Urgh, I feel a little sick to my stomach now…
I remember him specifically saying, as his new show debuted, that George W. Bush would get a free pass from him. I couldn’t believe it. The “old” Dennis gave no quarter in any direction.
Me too. Maybe that’s why he decided that the sanctimonious self-important whining ignorance that characterizes modern American liberalism wasn’t for him. Who could imagine such a thing?
To try and keep this in CS (sort of) intelligence, semi-seriousness and whit have been a part of Miller’s act all thru his career. Compare this to, say, the very unserious, manic, man-child act of a Robin Williams. Or the one-trick-pony act of a Whoopie Goldberg.
Miller was pro-choice but he was never a whining, ignorant liberal. I think he’d be the person he is 9/11 or not.
And to be fair Miller did not say he would give GWB a free pass. What he said was that he was not going to allow people on his show to just spout the standard, venomous, totally unfounded “he’s an idiot” hatred. Miller has met Bush and while not agreeing with all his politics he believes he’s a completely competant, sincere individual. Which to me does display Miller’s intelligence…
Okay, but I believe that if GWB did something that Miller really genuinely disagreed with he would still not hesitate to take him to task on it. He just feels (as I do) that because 99.9% of the media utterly despise Bush no matter what, he needs to go a little further to separate himself from the whining rabble…
