All right, who gave me this cold? It’s shorted out my sense of smell, which can be a positive or a negative, depending, I suppose. Either way, a nap under a snuggy blankey would be most lovely.

No need to go to the store, Rue, make your own bread! I have to find a recipe for authentic Cuban bread for the Cuban sammitch I’ll make. Which is tough since I’ve never had one before. But you all make them sound wonderful, so I want one. Or maybe I should wait until I can smell again, because my lunch tasted like sawdust and I’m pretty sure I ordered the shrimp scampi.

Explain this to me. Whenever I sneeze, one of my cats comes running over, meowing at me as though she is both concerned and scolding. I pet her, she is mollified, and then goes about her business. Sure she’s a cat, which is just another way of pronouncing crazy, but this is whack-a-doodle.

Oooh! Oooh! Did I mention that we looked at a boat last weekend? The boat dealer was trying to get us to go to the Boat Show in Seattle, but neither of us wanted to mess with the dang traffic up there. We did, however, find a boat we liked and are very seriously considering it.

The boat is a 20 footer with an open bow and enough room for 10 people. I see a lot of water skiing, tubing, fishing and just plain ol’ sunning in the boat come the next couple of months and through the summer. We originally looked at a Maxxum, but, uh sorry, 30 grand for a boat just isn’t in the cards for us. The Bayliner we looked at is very nice and I think will do an admirable job. Besides, it’s almost 10 grand less. We plan to look at a couple of other places, but I think in the end, (see how snuck that in there?), we’ll end up with this one.

Well, I still need to buy some slacks for the hubby. I’m in a bit of a connundrum(sp?) though, because I don’t know if he wants “slacks” slacks or just some nice Dockers. I’m also not sure what color he wants. I was thinking of going out to buy him some nice charcoal gray slacks. Have y’all figured out that I buy all of the hubby’s clothing?

I’m hungry. I think I need to rummage ‘round the ol’ fridge and see what I can whip quick like and head to the store.

Taters - have you looked at used boats? Seriously, consider it. You can save a bunch of $$$ that you can spend on snacks and sun screen! Just have the boat inspected before you buy. The difference in price between new and used is amazing! Free advice from a boat owner of many years.
The evil weather guys said we might get as much as a foot of snow. If I lose my cable, I can’t be held responsible. I’m just sayin’…

He wants the Dockers. In tan. Or khaki. Maybe taupe.

If I had to buy a boat, it’d be a pontoon boat. With the screen house around the steering wheel area, a grill up at the pointy end (which, on a pontoon boat is more rounded than pointy), and a recliner onboard som’mers. (“Som’mers” is a nautical term for “some where” Nautical terms are like that, you just ram all the words you want to use together. Like “for’c’s’t’l” which means “pizza oven”.) That’s the beauty of a pontoon boat- you trick it out and you don’t even have to put it in the water for a good time.

Plus I’d have tiki-head party lights all around the edges. It would be one bitchin’ boat.

Rue 's busy with his imaginary boat - but I decided to bake bread tomorrow afternoon. Old Fashioned Honey Wheat Bread - it’ll be interesting to see how it turns out.

I made Tofu in Peanut Ginger Sauce tonight - it was good.

Taters, can you say sailboat? Much more fun than a Bayliner, and not so noisy.

I know, it’s hard to waterski behind a sailboat, but is that really a bad thing? Think champagne as the boat catches the wind and flies, silently forward, smooth and graceful as a dolphin (or do I mean porpoise? I get them confused. I know I don’t mean the dauphin, it’s hard to be graceful when you’re dead. Unless you’re looking for things to do in Denver. Okay, a bit obscure, perhaps, but fans will catch it, and that’s what matters, right?)

Sailboats, floating, wind, peaceful easy feeling–all good.

Powerboats, jet-skis, diesel fuel, life in the fast lane–no so good.
Plus, you can waste more time boat farting with a sailboat than with a powerboat. We’d leave the boat ready to sail, but still when we’d go back, there’d be stuff to fart around with before we left. "Course, we’d leave the Bayliner ready to go as well, but something would need to be stowed or installed or dismantled. They share that in common at least, sailboat or powerboat–something always needs to be done before you get underway. Usually something unpleasant, damp and/or smelly. Man, I miss having a boat.

Ah, Kallessa, I knew there was something I liked about you! Sailboats, indeed! We’ve run the gamut from trailer sailing (ick) to our current Fisher 37. My hubby loves the requisite futzing and putzing. In fact, he usually leaves me at the helm while he finds something to fiddle with.

We’re all winterized now, but we’ve already discussed what we’ll do when spring comes. Biggest part of the plan is to spend time out on the Bay. It’s been ages since we could just go float around for giggles. If you’re in the neighborhood, stop by and we’ll go for a sail!

Taters, check out this site. If you use the advanced search option, you can search on location, price range, etc.
I was especially intrigued by this offering. Can you imagine the mess that boat is in?

My problem is that there are times I want a sail boat and times I want a power boat, and then I have my lucid moments, when I realize I can’t afford to maintain either. :frowning:

Good luck on your boat hunting, though. If you get one, remember, I don’t live that far away. hint, hint.

On boats, I got…nuthin’.

However, when I took a break from tearing the living room apart (technically, I’m still on that break, I suppose), I noticed that this was in danger of falling off the first page. Wouldn’t want that to happen, now would we? Even if it is Saturday.

It’s been snowing pretty much all day. I have TP and milk, but no bread. Don’t really have enough flour to bake it with, either. So I’ll probably trudge over to the grocery store eventually. We’re supposed to get ice on top of the snow, so sooner is better than later, I guess.

Still considering what to cook for dinner… Guess I should decide that before going to the grocery store in case I need anything else.

Can you tell I’m not feeling very inspired???

I have to say that I’m glad we don’t live in Seattle, because my husband would buy that tug. He’s wanted one for ages. The “needs work” caveat doesn’t scare him at all. It terrifies me, but the distance factor is reassuring.

It’s stopped snowing, if anyone cares. And I made a cherry cobbler so we’ll have some of that in a bit. Wish I’d bought some vanilla ice cream, but when snow is forecast, all you’re allowed to buy is milk, bread, and TP. Alas…
