I know, I know, Unca Rue, the family guy is probably spending quality time with the Little Woman, Soupo, Katcha and the animal brood.
He ain’t got no time for no jibber jabber.
Well, since I’m stuck here in cube-land, I do.
I’m in my post-Christmas haze. 5 days off of work can really mess with you. I need to win the lottery or find a Sugar Daddy[sub]not the candy[/sub]because I can really get used to this Lady of Leisure thing.
So here I sit, surfing mightily, sipping on some coffee.
OH! And I got a crockpot! I’m making split pea soup tomorrow while I sit at work. And after that I might make some chili with the Skyline chili mixin’s I got from My Pal.
I was wonderin’ whether we were supposed to politely wait for Unca Rue but I’m guessin’ he can butt right in here whenever he wants, no?
Like you, scout, I’m just back to cubeland after last week off and not likin’ it much either. Say, if we’re both in cubeland, wanna do lunch? Just stand up sos I can see where yer sittin’.
I haveta say I’m glad the Xmas thing is over. I got me some lovely freshwater pearls from Mr. Anachi. They are very unique as they are more pill shaped than round and a lovely pale rosey shade. It was a fun day but I never got to sit down, even to eat dinner. I ate standing up while I washed pots, pans, and platters.
And it got cold again here. Don’t like it, ya hear???
I was wondering what happened to the MMP. I was looking forward to posting on a Monday instead of a Wed or Thurs! G’morning ever’body!
I, too, am at work drinking coffee. Must be the post-holiday haze.
My weekend was good. Saturday with the family, presents and all that. Sunday I drove to my bf’s grandfather’s for their annual family dinner. The weather was pretty nasty… well, it got that way when I was more than 1/2 way there so no point in turning around. I’m just glad I got there while I was still able to unbend my white knuckles from the steering wheel. I’m actually thinking I may like his (bf’s) extended family more than my own. They’re loud and rambunctious, but there isn’t that awkward tension that makes extended-family dinners in my family really stressful.
Hope everyone had a wonderful holiday and happy New Year a little in advance!
Crimmus was fun. Christmas Eve morning I went to a brunch at my church. A couple bloody marys and a piece of rum cake which was more like rum with a little cake in it made for a good time. I went to Christmas Eve service where I served as Lector, which means I read one of the lessons. I got up waaaaaaay early Christmas morning and drove up to my mom’s and spent the day eating a lot and gettin’ presents and being with my big noisy family which was the most fun part of all. Then I went to my sister’s house that night and we watched a movie, talked a lot and drank beer. It’s a good thing she lives right next to mom. It made gettin’ back to go to bed a lot easier. Yesterday morning I had breakfast with mom, sis, the BIL and their kid, my niece. Then I packed up and came home to do laundry and such. ACBG got back late yesterday afternoon and came over for a soak in the hot tub, which was a nice day after Crimmus present. All in all it was a good time.
I hate the first day back to work after a holiday. I haven’t done a darn thing all morning. At least (for me, anyway) it’s another short week this week!
On Christmas Eve I got up when my husband did (he had to work) and finished wrapping presents. Then I made goodies to bring along to my mom’s for Christmas Day before settling down to watch the Vikings-Packers face-off. I don’t have anything more to say about that.
When my husband got home from work, we exchanged gifts and then went to my Grandma’s for Christmas Eve dinner. After dinner we had to go to a quick wedding and then back to Grandma’s for presents. We got home at about 10 and went to bed shortly after.
On Christmas morning we got up at about 7:30, got ready, and went to my mom’s. We hadn’t really had any snow this year, but it snowed just enough to make it pretty on Christmas morning! It looked so pretty. We opened gifts and had brunch. Watched a couple of Christmas movies and then the aunts and uncles started rolling in. Late afternoon my husband and I headed over to his parents’ house. We’re not having Christmas with them until Saturday, but still wanted to see them on Christmas day. We had some munchies and played a game.
Yesterday my husband and I played Texas Hold 'Em with the new set I bought him. In the afternoon we went to “Lemony Snicket” with two of my sisters, my niece, nephew, and my mom. Afterward we stopped off to buy some new Sunday pants (lounge pants, for those who don’t use the same terminology we do) and went home directly to put them on. Watched a few episodes of the Sopranos season 2 on DVD before bed.
Where the heck is everybody else?? I mean, what could possibly be more important than checking out the MMP?
I saw Lemony Blahbiddy Blah, too. I liked it alright but kinda wished I’d picked something else. Looks like there’s gonna be some good movies coming next summer by the trailers. I’m particularly goosey bumpin’ over The War of The Worlds. Looks like it’s gonna be scaaaaaaaaaaaaarrrrrrrrrrrrryyyyyyy!!!
I’m wearing an itchy sweater today. The Princess[sup]TM[/sup] gave it to me for xmas. It must have wool in it. Wool makes me itch. By the time 5:30 rolls around I will be positively antsing to rip this thing off. In fact, I am right now.
Well, off to the ladies to check the sweater label. And all ya slackers…get in here and post!
Well cripes! I had a nice post all prepared and somehow wiped it out.
I took an extra day off, so I’m sittin’ here in my jammies slurpin’ coffee. I was a very, very busy Christmas holiday. Frankly, I’m glad it’s over. I’m wiped out.
The kids loved what we got them for Christmas, the hubby loved his presents, and so did the rest of the family members. I received lovely presents.
I prepared a fantastic prime roast for Christmas Day with all the trimmings. It was a lovely dinner. I made a great big kettle of soup out of the leftover prime rib roast yesterday. It was very good. We plan to have more soup today.
Well, I need to get motivated and get myself cleaned up. I need to exchange some pants for my daughter, buy a birthday present for a neighbor kids, take the daughter’s clarinet in for repair and couple of other things. Sigh…it would have been nice to just lounge before I headed back to work tomorrow, but I guess that won’t be the case.
Me too. Was it just me or was the movie lacking something? My husband and I would have gone to “Meet the Fockers” instead, but everyone else in my family was going to Lemony Snicket … plus, his sister wants to see “Meet the Fockers” sometime this week with us, and I didn’t want to blow her off. We all agreed that we will have to go see “War of the Worlds” too!
We’re at the cabin still. We ran away for the weekend, just the two of us. Walked on the beach yesterday. It was beautiful, clear and crispy cold, (about 45). Had dinner last night at the 42nd Street Cafe, which isn’t really a cafe but a 3-star restaurant in Seaview. We started with a goat cheese fondue, (better than it sounds) I had a Pikes Kilt Lifter (Scottish style ale) and Missus had a glass of Columbia Valley Reisling (only 'cause they didn’t have a Bergstrom Pinot Gris, she says). Then I had a seafood soup with cocont milk, curry and saffron in the stock. It was way yum! Missus had pan fried oysters. They were edible. (she loved them. I detest all things oyster) For dessert we shared a slice of truely decadent chocolate cake with raspberry sauce and whipped cream over.
*Note to the uninitiated; we MMPers talk about food a lot.
**Don’t complain about the food-a-log or I’ll tell ya all about what movies we watched.
We just finished a breakfast of BLTs & coffee, while listening to the ‘Eva Cassidy at Blues Alley’ CD I got Herself for Christmas. Now we have to clean up the cabin and head back to the valley. Lots to do. We’ve decided to start a new business. I’ll tell you about it later when I have a minute, and I’m not on a dial-up connection.
Would those be soft, pajama-bottom-y pants with elastic waistbands? We call those ‘eatin’ pants’. 'cause you don’t hafta loosen your belt during the meal, dontcha know.
Boring, boring day - boss and boss’ boss are out, so it’s hard to be productive - there’s no one standing above me cracking the whip. Posted about my Christmas in another thread. Short version - it was fun. My lovely new gift to myself of a laptop makes me a happy gal. Christmas gifts were nice - but nothing that made me excited & thrilled. Actually, I take that back - I got two books from my new SIL, and she took the care to think of me when she picked them out. She’s so sweet.
Practically had to roll me out the door - ate way too much. Mom & Dad are coming to visit for a few days starting Thursday - and there will be more eating then.
Kitties missed me. But then I got in bed last night to be greated by cat puke on the comforter. Eewwww.
Yeppers, it’s wool alright. 100% extra fine Merrino wool. Hope The Princess doesn’t pout when I don’t wear it too much, which I probably won’t, because it itches me AND it’s dry-clean only.
Have you tried wearing a light, long-sleeved t-shirt under wool sweaters? That helps keep me from itching, and the t-shirt can be washed, cutting down the frequency with which the wool sweater needs to be dry-cleaned.
Soon as I’m filthy steenkin’ rich I have make you my, um, whatever it is that a sugar daddy has. Yeppers, right near the top of the list of things to do.
I so wish I had something to do. If I had vacation, I’d take it. There is no one around to plan stuff or have meetings with and there are strict rules about no changes so near year end. I need to find something to put down on my time sheet!
I’m not a real employee, so I don’t want to rock the boat, but I don’t know what they want from me this week.
Let me know when all the details get worked out, 'kay?
So much for time to ease into the workweek. I just had to shave a half million dollars from our 2005 budget. So much for that bonus I was getting. Oh wait…
Yep. Those be the ones! I put on Sunday pants (or eatin’ pants, if you prefer) pretty much on a daily basis after I get home from work, so I don’t know why I still call them that. Our new ones are flannel, so they’re extra special cuddly, warm, and soft!
Here’s another area where I might be able to help. See, I’m not all emotionally attached to the budget money like a department manager might be. Just send me a copy of the budget and I’ll trim out half a mil for you. In fact, I’ll wipe out an extra 300k just to give you some breathing room. It’s the least I could do… that’s what friends (and Sugar Daddys) are for.
I’m home, due to weather! Cool, but I did get some work done here at home–that prop I was whining about last week.
Hey, you that saw movies, how about a one sentence review? Will they be worth my time?
Tupug, from a knitter, you don’t have to dry clean. In fact, you are probably better off doing the following, to get any itchy chemicals or sizing out of it:
Fill your washer on the lowest level water setting with hot water. Put some shampoo with conditioner in the water, let it agitate. Stop the agitation. Put the sweater in, and either swish it around some, or let it gently agitate for a minute. Then turn off the washer and let the sweater soak for about 15 minutes. (It takes that long to get into the wool fibers.) Then spin it, add more hot water with some vinegar in it. Let it sit again, then put it through a spin cycle–this should make it almost dry.
Then let it air dry. Merino shouldn’t be itchy-merino has long, tiny fibers. It might be the chemicals they use to treat wool sometimes, or stiff sizing used to make the yarn easier to knit.
