Describe the most bizarre dream you've had recently

Got it, it was a dream. Weird. Yeah, I would remember that too, I reckon. A feeling. But I never remember a dream with the level of detail and convoluted plot you have described, and I am sorry for that. Reads like a movie. My wife mentions that her dreams are like movies sometimes, with continuations over several nights even. I have never experienced that, or I don’t remember. What do you think is more common, if I may ask: your level of detailed memory or my level of amnesia?

Yesterday I woke up from a dream, where I was working on my computer at my desk. I looked at the time; it was 10:43 AM, and I was late for my 10:00 AM meeting with HR.

In real life I had a 10:00 AM meeting with HR the next day to submit my retirement. The nightmare was that I missed my chance to retire!

I awoke in a sweat from a dream where I was driving a big rig towing some kind of bus or RV. I was attempting to maneuver down a steep cloverleaf offramp onto a half-flooded road. The bus/RV flipped over. I was able to get it upright somehow by accelerating and making a tight turn but it was pretty banged up and that’s when I woke up.

I think the dream had something to do with watching Mad Max Fury Road earlier that evening.

About a decade ago, I learned to stop action in my dream and, seemingly conscious, analyze details of things like artwork.

More recently, some dreams, when I wake, continue to run, superimposed on features in the room, for 10-20 seconds, and I can describe the dream action to my wife as it is taking place, and I am aware I’m doing it.

Vampire scientists, this is the second time this year I’ve had a dream featuring vampires as scientists of all sorts in as a key sort of background, sort of main feature. There were cosmologists, quantum physicists, biologists, astronomers(both professional and amateur), research doctors, regular physicists, and geologists, all working in this huge star shaped laboratory together with a central common area for trading ideas back and forth across different disciplines and they were all vampires. Every single one. The really weird part was that I was there to interview one of the cosmologists and was casually told this and told that my blood was going to get sucked out afterward during the tour of the facility I was given before the interview.

I dreamed that I was either working or volunteering in a nursery for identical mutant babies. There were about 30-40 little cribs in a large room. One of the babies called me over. She looked like a rack of ribs. She explained to me that she had to keep basting herself, to avoid drying out. So I went around to all the cribs, basting all the little mutant babies.

Well, my OP was nine years ago, and I’d actually completely forgotten about this particular dream.

I don’t always have dreams quite that vivid, but they’re not uncommon for me, and I think the amount of convolutions they tend to have in them makes them more memorable. (I do, for another example, still vividly remember a dream I had in 2003 where I fell in love with the princess of Denmark, was set to marry her before her uncle had her kidnapped as part of a plot to claim the throne for himself, and myself and my stepdad Jeff Foxworthy went on a globetrotting expedition to rescue her.)

Most of the time though, my dreams revolve around the same basic theme; I’m trying to perform a simple task that for some reason has become needlessly difficult, like assembling a sandwich at one of my old fast food jobs and the toppings keep switching containers every time I reach for them, or I’m packing my bags before checking out of a hotel but I brought way too much stuff and I somehow can’t fit it back into my suitcase.

Y’know, your dream has me going back to a question I’ve pondered before: Is it better to have a happy dream but wake up disappointed, or to have a bad dream and wake up relieved?

I am supposed to give a concert in the Amsterdam Concertgebouw in about 15 minutes (btw, I have no musical education or training beyond some electronic organ classes in my teens). Schumann’s Piano concerto. In a transcription for erhu (Chinese violin*). Panic starts when I realize I do not have the printed score. Nor an erhu for that matter. Fortunately I wake up.

*my wife is Chinese (from Shanghai), so that might explain the weird erhu connection.

I dreamed I was married to JJ from “Criminal Minds”. We sat on the couch as she told me about her day catching bad guys at the FBI.

Oh, I had not realized that the thread started so long ago. And still you have a recollection of that dream! I have never remembered a dream for that long. I don’t remember a dream so complicated either, no idea whether I dream simply or if I forget before waking up.

To me, dreams are more “cinematic”, like I’m an observer (even though I’m in it), so while bad shit might be happening, it rarely feels like a nightmare (the kind I would wake up terrified from as a kid). I would much rather pleasant stuff going on though.

It’s weird, on the rare occasion when I have a sex dream, I still have at least a dull realization that I’m married, and it kind of ruins it. Every time.

Do weird sex dreams with someone you never considered in that way count? Asking for a friend.

It’s strange, one time I had a sex dream about Jennifer Aniston. I had never once consciously found her all that attractive before that. My opinion changed overnight, literally.

The other night I dreamed that I wanted to move to Florida.

It was hard to get back to sleep after that.

I had a dream that I went to visit Switzerland. I was standing in customs in some kind of airplane hangar. My visa was supposed to be at the front podium. Turns out the U.S. had accidentally sent a baggie of Lucky Charms instead of my visa. The guy at the podium held it up, looking really confused. I just rolled my eyes, muttered, “Americans, right?!” Apparently those were the magic words because the Swiss let me into the country anyway.

I had a dream where I was sitting in my pastor’s office. We were talking about something, I don’t know what, I don’t think it was important. Suddenly ninjas burst into the room and shoot the pastor dead. I distinctly recall him toppling over backwards in his chair. The ninjas run out of the room without doing me any harm, I guess because I didn’t see thier faces. There the dream ends. I haven’t the slightest idea where that came from, the pastor was a great guy, I liked him and as far as I know so did everyone else.

Just saw this after my last post. I sure hope they don’t because I once had a dream about a guy I didn’t like, and we were making out. EWW!

I’ve had two night terrors in the past 3 months, and I can’t recall having night terrors since my high school years.

Wow, just last night I dreamt that my brother and I were going to fly to Hawaii, and while I didn’t pack an appropriate number of clothing changes or my medication, I did take an ironing board, a typewriter, and another large object I can’t recall right now.

Per the screener’s request, I jettisoned the ironing board and typewriter before boarding.
