I and a colleague have been a little hard pressed lately. In order to add a bit of levity to the daily proceedings I created a little graph where we write our mood at the end of the day. And just to spice things up, we now declare a song that best describes our day.
It may get tricky later on, but our selections so far are:
Me: She’s Always a Woman - Billy Joel. Pretty much because of
“Oh-she takes care of herself
She can wait if she wants
She’s ahead of her time
Oh-and she never gives out
And she never gives in
She just changes her mind”
In reference to my boss. That day got a 4.5 out of 10 (the day picked up at the end).
Colleague: What Difference Does It Make - Smiths
In ref to a different boss but similar…
4.5/10
So, do you have a song that best describes how your day has been?
'Cause he gets up in the morning,
And he goes to work at nine,
And he comes back home at five-thirty,
Gets the same train every time.
'Cause his world is built 'round punctuality,
It never fails.
Well, a bunch of management types were just standing around trying to decide what on *earth * to get the admins for Secretary’s Day and seemed baffled by the idea of guessing what admins would like. So the song running through my head at the moment is What Do the Simple Folk Do?
10 to 2 AM, X, Yogi DMT, and a box of Krispy Kremes,
in my “need to know” pose, just outside of Area 51
Contemplating the whole “chosen people” thingy
when a flaming stealth banana split the sky
When quoting lyrics, please be sure to only quote a few lines and then link to the rest. Because of this, I’ve gone through and removed a lot of lyrics from numerous posts. If in doubt, we have a handy-dandy sticky in Cafe Society dealing with this.
The Queen of Diamonds let you down
She was just an empty fable.
The Queen of Hearts you claim you never met.
Your twisted fate has found you out and it’s finally turned the table.
They stole your dreams and paid you with regret…
One day I was driving home during bad thunderstorms. Not too far from work I saw some woods on fire, not sure if it was set by lightning or what. Later on closer to my house it started to rain and hail really bad, the hail dinged my car up bad too because I had nothing to park under. For some reason the whole ordeal reminded me of the phrase “I’ve seen fire and I’ve seen rain” from the James Taylor song “Fire and Rain.”
