Describe Your Day With A Song

I and a colleague have been a little hard pressed lately. In order to add a bit of levity to the daily proceedings I created a little graph where we write our mood at the end of the day. And just to spice things up, we now declare a song that best describes our day.
It may get tricky later on, but our selections so far are:

Me:
She’s Always a Woman - Billy Joel. Pretty much because of

“Oh-she takes care of herself
She can wait if she wants
She’s ahead of her time
Oh-and she never gives out
And she never gives in
She just changes her mind”

In reference to my boss. That day got a 4.5 out of 10 (the day picked up at the end).

Colleague:
What Difference Does It Make - Smiths

In ref to a different boss but similar…

4.5/10

So, do you have a song that best describes how your day has been?

So far this morning, I’ll go with:

A Well-Respected Man - Kinks

'Cause he gets up in the morning,
And he goes to work at nine,
And he comes back home at five-thirty,
Gets the same train every time.
'Cause his world is built 'round punctuality,
It never fails.

Things might change once the students get here.

One of These Days, by Pink Floyd. I’d like to dedicate this to a special co-worker.

Nice.

Me: Nobody told me there’s be days like these. John Lennon

Take This Job And Shove It by Johnny Paycheck.

Self-explanatory, I think.

“All-American Girl” by Melissa Etheridge. Describes a typical stressed out workday.

Yesterday was a 5 on the moody scale, so not too bad. But still best summarised by

Road to Nowhere, Talking Heads

Hurt, Johnny Cash

Ask me about my still painful root canal!

“Going Through the Motions”

And my co-workers sing along. Although none of them are vampires or demons. (That is, I don’t think so.)

“Unwell” by Matchbox 20. My recent change in medication is messing with my sleep schedule, and hence, my ability to get things done.

*Hold on
I’m feeling like I’m headed for a
Breakdown
I don’t know why *

Well, a bunch of management types were just standing around trying to decide what on *earth * to get the admins for Secretary’s Day and seemed baffled by the idea of guessing what admins would like. So the song running through my head at the moment is What Do the Simple Folk Do?

John Lennon’s Watching the Wheels. I’ve never been famous, but the rest fits just fine…

I’m so tired, I haven’t slept a wink
I’m so tired, my mind is on the blink…

Although I’m so tired, I’ll have another cigarette
And curse Sir Walter Raleigh, he was such a stupid git.
zzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzz

Alrighty, then … picture this if you will.

10 to 2 AM, X, Yogi DMT, and a box of Krispy Kremes,
in my “need to know” pose, just outside of Area 51
Contemplating the whole “chosen people” thingy
when a flaming stealth banana split the sky

When quoting lyrics, please be sure to only quote a few lines and then link to the rest. Because of this, I’ve gone through and removed a lot of lyrics from numerous posts. If in doubt, we have a handy-dandy sticky in Cafe Society dealing with this.

Speaking of which, off this goes to Cafe Society.

The First Cut is the Deepest Cat Stevens and others. I’m doing surgery this morning.

Today was a slow, non-working day - I think Tom’s Diner should cover it-
“I am sitting in the morning
in the diner on the corner”

The Eagles “Despardo (Reprise)”

The Queen of Diamonds let you down
She was just an empty fable.
The Queen of Hearts you claim you never met.
Your twisted fate has found you out and it’s finally turned the table.
They stole your dreams and paid you with regret…

One day I was driving home during bad thunderstorms. Not too far from work I saw some woods on fire, not sure if it was set by lightning or what. Later on closer to my house it started to rain and hail really bad, the hail dinged my car up bad too because I had nothing to park under. For some reason the whole ordeal reminded me of the phrase “I’ve seen fire and I’ve seen rain” from the James Taylor song “Fire and Rain.”

These last few days?

Time, by Pink Floyd

Ticking away the moments that make up a dull day
You fritter and waste the hours in an off hand way…
