I “Shot the Moon” 4 straight times and won a game of Hearts 0 to 104, 104, 104!
I’d like something of the sort of Rome: Total War, only with even more layers. Turn based strategy layer for world map, a real time strategy layer for battles, and a first person melee combat mode for when two units meet each other in battle.
Sounds like fun to me! I just get stabby when devs consider gameplay nuances and depth as “problems” which need to be “solved”. Human civilization has persisted for millenia without someone (God or Sid Meier or whoever) constantly handing down edicts from on high to fix this or that balance issues. Instead human ingenuity has seemed more than adequate most of the time, be it addressing things like how to make a wheel, build atomic reactors, depose a now-useless figurehead king, or deal with Montezuma the Bunghole when he starts getting all uppity.
Sure, the kind of game I described may not be everyone’s cup of tea, but I would be gambling that there would be enough of a player base which would appreciate the open-endedness even if it meant that gameplay might not be as “seamless” as it is now in most MMOs. Seamless and dull that is.
This is exactly what I’ve been pining for for 15 years.I keep thinking they’re getting closer. And they tickle my ass with a feather way too often - Matrix Online, The Secret World, etc.
