I thought Will was too unsophisticated. He was difficult to understand. He seemed scattered and nervous. Plus, his design sense is merely ordinary — urban bright pastels (lime greens, baby blues, etc) with 60s/70s cylinders for accents. I didn’t like anything he did, really. I picked Kim from the very beginning, and I’m glad to see she’s made it to the final two.
The preview makes clear he’s shirtless virtually all the time in Hawaii. My friend and I have started a drinking game: every time the camera shows him shirtless, you drink. We were laughing hysterically at the Hawaii show preview: “We’re gonna be so drunk by the end of that show!” Seriously, has there been an episode where he hasn’t taken his shirt off?
I knew Will was out from the get-go this time. He just doesn’t have the presence to be a television personality. I think he would not have been eliminated if the show was about design skills, period – I think he was the best one at listening to his client and synthesizing what they wanted – but it is Design “Star” and a star he just isn’t. But he left with class and he seems like a very nice man, so I hope the show helps him with his design business.
I definitely want Kim to win. Todd’s “Dude, I’m HAWT and I RAWK!” attitude grates on me a bit. The leather pants? The shirtlessness? Please.
Oh, and how bogus was it for them to tell the 3 designers what state they were going to but not tell them which family?
Let’s see a coal miner and the 3 possible choices are: California, Indiana and…West Virginia.
