Kind of a “meh” episode. I don’t care about Susan and Edie’s little feud so that was all wasted time for me. A little movement on the Rex murder plot, that might start ticking along nicely. A little something on the Mystery of the Basement. Carlos and Gabrielle might as well not have been in the show, their bit was so nothing.
Lynette’s a total manipulative bitch. Again. Still.
But high marks for Bree. I’d have slapped that awful old woman long before that.
How much of Alfre Woodard’s story do you think was true? It seemed like she was giving the doc more than he needed if all she wanted was to score some tranquilizers to calm the guy in the basement.
If it’s true, and if her ex is the guy in the basement, he’s being treated pretty good. Unless she’s cutting body parts off of him a little at a time.
And I understand that Rex’s mommy has been there for weeks? Doesn’t she have a home to get back to?
Of course I’m aware that having her leave eliminates a source of drama, but even so. I’d’ve tossed the woman out long ago.
Spoiler discussion for the new mystery:
[spoiler]Somehow I knew that the new neighbor was stringing the shrink along for the drugs. Even so, it seems like the mystery of who’s in the basement has already been given away, in the season’s 2nd episode.
She did give the name of the son supposedly killed as the same as the son who’s living with her, right? Would they dare have all of it be true, and the “son” living with her isn’t her son at all?
There is a scene in Ep. 1 when she compliments her “son”, who had just fixed a meal to bring downstairs. The way she touched him and looked at him didn’t seem very motherly, but rather sexual in nature IMHO.
The son living with her is Matthew. I think she referred to her “dead” son as Brett.
I think there’s a kernel of truth there. Her husband did abuse her, but I don’t think he killed her son. For me, I noticed she wasn’t wearing a wedding ring when she was having dinner with Matthew and talking about his punishment.
Now don’t get me wrong. I have never like Lynette.
But, her lazy-ass husband and his “system” were totally out of hand. She tried to reason with him earlier. Instead of working things out, he calls HER unreasonable for not wanting to sleep on baby-vomit sheets because he was too much a lazy ass to wash the sheets.
Reason wasn’t going to work. It seems to me that manipulation or divorce were her other options.
I was wondering about that. Would he have changed the sheets if the spit-up was on his side of the bed? Or is he still a bit passive-agressive toward her because she cost him his promotion and letting the house go to pot was his attempt at revenge?
I’m on record for being officially sick of Lynette’s crap ever since she fired the perfect babysitter for having breasts.
I want to see her suffer, but the way to do it isn’t for Tom to be a rotten househusband. Instead, he needs to harness his manly organizational/leadership skills and turn that house into the happiest, healthiest, most well functioning household in the whole neighborhood. Now that would drive Lynette bat-shit crazy, as it would amplify her own insecurities about being a sucky mom.
The Alfre Woodard story is turning out to be just a bit over the top, even for this show, but I’m more than willing to stick around and see how it goes. I hope the producers, having hit on a winning formula, aren’t going to spoil it by piling on a little too much “desperate” to the housewives.
I wonder what kind of revenge Edie will get for that shattered tibia.
Will Bree ever really allow herself to let go and fall apart?
How long will Lynette be able to maintain the new situation of her working again and Tom being at home?
Will Carlos have to be moved away from his cellmate?
I'm willing to stick around and find out.
My question, now that we’re two episodes into the new season and no one seems to have given it any thought: where the hell is Paul Young? Surely he got out of that sand pit where Plumberman planned to kill him; where has he been hiding? Will he be coming back for vengeance?
I think it’s only been a few days. Rex died the same night that Zach was holding Susan hostage, and the funeral has been held (3-4 days?) but the will hasn’t been read yet. I’m thinking no more than a week.
Except that Deidre’s daddy knows that Zach is out there: that’s why he sent Mike looking for him with a gun and a ton of money; what’s unclear is whether he knew/suspected Deidre’s child was Mike’s son all along and withheld that information from Mike.
I thought Lynette’s rat purchase was a stroke of genius.
