Kinda surprised there is not a thread yet, so I’ll start one.
They killed off Rex? [Stan and Kyle]You bastards![/Stan and Kyle] This makes no sense to me - Rex and Bree had a wonderfully disharmonic relationship - lots of space for the writers to frolic.
Mike let Paul live - well, Mike’s kind of a complex guy, you see, and …
And Paul may not be as creepy as once thought, although still much creepier than one would want as a neighbor.
Tom drops out - saw that one coming - Lynette really gave him a punch to the package.
Have we already speculated that Deirdre=Zach’s mother and that Mike maybe=Zach’s father?
Zach ramps up his creepiness again, leaving us to wonder how much creepier he can become before the White Coats haul him away.
Carlos explodes - is he trying for enhanced punishment?
And, as I expected, Alfre Woodard appears to have some secrets of her own…
p.s. Prior to DH, James (Jamie) Denton was doing theater in Chicago and paying the bills by waiting tables in Harry Caray’s restaraunt. Dang, talk about catching a break…
I loved Gabrielle’s speech to Carlos about who’s going to really take care of their baby.
I also loved how Lynnette’s husband told her it’s her turn to go back to work.
The way the doctor told Bree about her husband’s death seemed wrong to me. Wouldn’t such sensitive news be delivered in person to the family rather than over the phone?
Did Mike just leave Paul out there in the dunes? I’m sure he could have found his way back on foot, but still…
I really thought Paul would be the one to die, not Rex. Now Bree is going to blame herself, since she doesn’t know what actually happened.
It was a nice touch to show her finishing polishing the silver. Cleaning is one of the things that makes her feel good and normal, and she was in a state of shock for a few minutes after that call, just trying to keep it together with an activity that was familiar and comforting to her.
What exactly happened with Rex? I got torn from the TV as he took the chart from the doctor and started writing on a note pad. What did he write? Did something happen after this? The next thing I knew, Brie was getting a call from the hospital.
Unless I missed something crazy, I can’t help but think there is something foul afoot with the “death” of Rex. Let us all remember that this is a soap opera, after all. Characters on soaps have a trend of not always dying when they are supposed to.
Something like “Bree, I understand and I forgive you.” (Thinking that she had somehow poisoned his diet.)
I think the thing was that George was messing with his prescriptions.
As to your larger point, The Bold and the Beautiful comes on after the noon news here. Recently a major figure was discovered to have not actually died a few years ago, despite the funeral and whatnot. Dallas notwithstanding, I can’t imagine any show trying to pull something like this off.
Now there’s a thought! I wonder if George was involved in that?
I don’t think Mary Alice killed Dierdre. I think Paul did. After all, he’s killed before, rather cold-bloodedly. I think he’s pinning it on MA since she’s gone. And I also think Zach is Mike’s son. He was surprised Dierdre had a baby.
Cyros, they didn’t have time to show a funeral. Bree just got the news and was pulling out clothing for him. I love the subtle touch of her hair in disarray. And just where the hell are her children, anyway? Andrew’s been MIA for several episodes, and I expect if Rex is dead, Danielle will be furious with Bree because she knew Bree dawdled before she got him to the hospital.
I was expecting more of a blow-up between Tom and Lynnette, but I’ll take the “Go home now, Lynnette, before I say something I’ll regret.”
I wonder if Zach is suffering some lingering effects from Dierdre’s drug use. I would assume she used while she was pregnant.
Speculations on Alfre’s character: She’s running from an abusive husband. She bought a house, sight unseen, over the telephone, and wouldn’t let Edie in the house. Although I wonder how many abusive women have that much wherewithal to buy a house
Any guesses on how much the houses in Wisteria Lane go for? I don’t know what state they’re in, except it doesn’t have a death penalty. What does that narrow it down to, 10-15?
Perhaps the editors wanted to show us the more human side of Bree?
I just want to say that I predicted last week that this would be a chance for Tom to be stay-at-home Dad and Lynnette to go back to work. I was right!
Since the doctor thinks that Bree poisoned her husband, I would imagine there will be some sort of inquiry, during which someone will look at the pills, Bree will realize George much have been giving the wrong ones, and that look of horor will appear on her face. Also, even though Rex is gone, the kids are going to be pissed at Bree for not taking him to the hospital sooner- I predict lots of arguments.
I think it’s great that Mike was nice enough to let Paul live, but isn’t he kind of screwed when (if) Paul manages to crawl into town?
I don’t think she dawdled as much as whatever compulsive behavior (is that what it is?) Bree has is going to go into overdrive when she’s stressed. She really did have to make up the bed. And when she got the phone call, she had to finish polishing the silver.
I also didn’t expect them to kill off Rex … I really want it to be a setup (off screen death in a soap opera)
Really liked the resolution with Tom and Lynnette. It’s what they should have done in the first place. Also liked the way they handled Gabby and Carlos.
At first I wondered whether Rex and the doctor were in cahoots to see how Bree would react once she believed her plot to kill him had succeeded. (Of course, we viewers know she wasn’t trying to kill him, but the characters at least suspected that she was). But, now that you mention:
That makes a lot more sense now that Mary Alice’s story is almost resolved.
Depends on how much Paul’s willing to risk that an investigation into Mike’s behavior will reveal his own secrets.
Assuming Rex’s drugs were being tampered with, why wasn’t it detected sooner? Wouldn’t the level of drugs in his system be something regularly monitored, if only to determine that the dosage he was prescribed was correct? The doctors knew and were concerned that he wasn’t reacting to the drugs the way he should have. And wouldn’t routine - at least routine for a heart patient - monitoring have revealed at least the elevated potassium levels?
I don’t agree. I think the flashback showed Mary Alice stabbing Dierdre exactly as it happened. And of course Zach is Mike’s son. Actually, revealing that fact is how Mike is going to avoid getting shot. Then Zach can live with Mike and Susan can decide if she wants to live in the same house as this unbalanced kid.
As for Tom’s suggestion that Lynette go back to work, it is the best plan all around. And as far as we know, the job at the competing firm is still open.
Zach is Dana is a stolen baby? Knew that.
Dierdre was killed by Mary Alice? Well, it was either her or Paul, and it was Mary Alice who killed herself.
Tom is going to be a stay-at-home dad? Duh, like you didn’t see that coming after Lynette sabotaged his career.
Rex dead? I’m not buying it personally. But if he is dead, he’ll be back as next season’s narrator.
And you know what? I’m sick of the narration. How about someone kills the narration.
We know for sure that it’s not Utah. For one thing, Utah has the death penalty, and for another, that’s where the treatment center that Mary Alice/Angela worked in was said to be.
I meant to go back last night and rewatch the courtroom scene. Wasn’t there a state seal on the wall behind the judge?
I missed it! I saw the last two minutes with Mike walking away from Paul and the narrator’s last comments. I didn’t know about Rex so I assumed that Mike would get shot when he walked in the house. So, why was Zach there anyway?
Also, I saw some comments elsewhere about Rex that seem to think he isn’t really dead and it’s a ploy to find out if Bree is guilty.
Does anyone know if they’ll rerun this episode anytime soon, I don’t really want to wait until the end of summer.
Zach was running back home from Felicia, who was urging him to come back home with her. He called her a freak and said his father would be back. She admitted that Paul wasn’t coming back. He got mad and attacked her with a hockey stick, then stormed over to Mike’s to wait for him.
