Despicable: McCain & child sexual predators

So you were thinking of voting for Obama because you hoped for an end to personal attacks… And because the McCain campaign is now fully engaged in personal attacks, you’ve decided to switch back to voting for McCain. Is that about right? Are you feeling OK?

No one in this story is supporting pedohiles.

And I’ll again explain that my reasons for voting for McCain are:

I believe McCain will appoint textualist judges to the federal bench, support the Second Amendment, and not raise the tax rates I pay.

When I was considering voting for Obama in spite of those issues, it was because I believed that Obama’s emphasis on positive campaigning would change things. But then I saw it didn’t.

Incidentally, this isn’t something I made up recently. In this thread started on August 1st, I laid out that precise reasoning, long before the spate of vicious attacks were unleashed on Sarah Palin, long before most Americans knew who she was. It’s unclear to me why I’d be accused of creating this rationale now to justify a switch I “always planned,”, when I was saying the same thing all along.

Interestingly, in that thread, I was criticized by a few conservatives for my rationale. And Frank, no conservative he, remonstrated me for my logic, saying that his (Obama’s) style wouldn’t mark a sea change.

  1. In general, what sort of methods do you think might bring about an end to such behavior?

  2. Specifically, how do you think your vote for someone who endorsed a particularly slimy example of such behavior will contribute to this end?

Yep, just keep right on justifying your selfish complicity in attempting to saddle this nation with the likes of Sleaze McShame. I’m sure you’re quite proud of yourself.

Yes, and then no.

Is my position really that impossible to understand?

So you were thinking of voting for Obama because you hoped for an end to personal attacks. Yes.

And because the McCain campaign is now fully engaged in personal attacks, you’ve decided to switch back to voting for McCain.. No. Because supporters of Obama have engaged in ruthlessly personal and false attacks, I have realized that Obama’s message in this area has no chance of being heard. The chance that Obama’s message with respect to personal attacks would be heard was the ONLY REASON I EVER WAS TEMPTED TO VOTE FOR HIM. That reason is now shown to be mistaken.

I now believe that no methods whatsoever will end it. It’s impossible.

Makes almost no difference. I have learned that even if the candidate runs a clean campaign, others will muddy it up. On either side. It’s a wash.

When McCain wins, Shayna, how long will it be before you get over it and resume something approaching a normal life, free of this hatred and bitterness?

Yes, your position is utterly impossible to understand, and this thread re this filthy, offensive paid advertisement by your candidate for PRESIDENT OF THE UNITED STATES is a perfect, perfect example.

You are willing to tolerate this level of filth and bile from the PRESIDENT, but unwilling to accept harsh criticism from message board posters.

That’s completely fucking insane.

“Obama supporters” have engaged in unseemly attacks? Has he? Can you point to anything nearly as repugnant as McCain’s latest that has that tag line “I’m Obama, and I approved this message”?

You got, you bring. No got?

Bricker, could you expand on what you mean regarding the 2nd Amendment and taxes? What do you think Obama would do with guns, and why? Didn’t the recent SC decision pretty much kill the issue?

On taxes, do you earn significantly over 250k (or 600k I saw in some other thread, too lazy to look up his plan), or do you think he’s lying about implementing that plan? If the latter, what do you think he would do instead? (and aren’t you a fiscal conservative? If not raising taxes how should the debt be lowered/removed?)

Thanks

Is that the most fair-minded summary of my position that you can create?

If this were an assignment in a class, and you were asked to summarize my rationale, that’s what you would come up with? That the problem I have is “harsh criticism from message board posters?”

That’s not what I said. I explained above, and I explained in threads that pre-dated all this viciousness, what attracted me to Obama’s ticket and what attracted me to McCain’s ticket. Didn’t I?

Don’t got, because he hasn’t. He has remained true to his word.

But as I said, I imagined that the example of his remaining true to his word would motivate his supporters to do likewise. That’s what I was hoping would happen. That’s what I said I hoped would happen, and again I said it long before his supporters were making any such attacks.

What 3 separate threads, hundreds of posts and more obscenities not enough for you attention whores? Bricker won’t vote for Obama. An surprise to absolutely NO ONE. Now let it go.

On guns, Obama has always said he’d support “reasonable restrictions.” Of course, so do I – but I believe he and I have different ideas about what “reasonable” is. Before the Heller decision came down, Obama suggested that DC’s scheme was reasonable. This suggests to me that an Obama-appointed Solicitor General would be arguing to the Supreme Court that that DC’s NEWLY current scheme is also “reasonable.” I don’t believe it is.

On taxes, I believe Obama is telling the truth about his plans, and I am in a position where his plans explicitly include raising my taxes.

My rather conservative (for Methodists) church is inviting a guest speaker to provide very basic sex ed for pre-schoolers as young as 3 years old. They are doing this at a lot of churches around here. This age-appropriate sex-ed for the very young is a popular movement right now and I think this could really backfire on McCain.

Really? Obama pushes a bill to help protects kids from pedophiles and sexual abuse. McCain attacks him for it.

Which is it? Does McCain support pedos or is McCain a dishonorable lieing sack of shit?

I don’t know. One canident isn’t implying the other is a sexual predator for attempting to protects kids. The other is.

Obama is attempting positive change. McCain ain’t. The old pedo sided with bush 90% of the time by his own words and now says he’s for change, and resorting to vicious attacks you so despise alot more the Obama.
also

Bush’s tax cuts combined his incredibly stupid war, that McCain support being the sack of shit he is, ran the dollar into the ground from deficit and drove up gas prices from are sever dependence on foreign oil. The high energy costs really hurt the economy.

And you and McCain support more of this asinineness.
Talk about a selfish asshole.

I agree. I am neither surprised nor offended by Bricker’s choice and I think it’s pointless for anyone to keep harping on. I actually think he should stop responding to the digs.

Having had a go at Bricker in the other thread for calling for better behaviour in others while vowing himself to gloat about a possible Republican victory, I really ought to highlight the fact that in this thread he is responding with impeccable calmness in the face of considerable provocation, while you’re doing your nut over a complete misinterpretation of his words. You’re behaving like you’re three years old. Get a grip.

Regarding the OP, I personally find it pretty funny that CBS’s news site has censored every instance of the word “sex” from the comments after the article. I can certainly see how you’d want to avoid giving kindergartners excessive ***-ed. Imagine the confusion.

Awww, c’mon man! How many “supporters” of Jesus have you met that would make Him puke his perfect guts out?

People are mad as hell, and we got real good reasons to be mad as hell! Our beloved country is simmering in a boiling vat of sewer pudding, and you and I both know who is to blame! Hell, if it wasn’t for advanced age and a mordant sense of humor, I’d be running down the street with my hair on fire too!

Cut these people loose, pard. There is a place for honest conservatism, a place for prudent and cautious progress, but this is not what is being offered.

Show me one ad even half as rotten as this recent McCain craporama that has Obama saying “I approve this ad”, and then maybe you got something.

But you don’t, and since I know you damn sure ain’t stupid, then you’re stubborn. Cut 'em loose, and walk away, they need you, you don’t need them.

[QUOTE=Bricker** No. Because supporters of Obama have engaged in ruthlessly personal and false attacks, I have realized that Obama’s message in this area has no chance of being heard. And you’re all about clean campaigning. It’s a matter of dearly held principle of long standing with you.

Of course you didn’t express the slightest reservation when your boy Shrub when, in his second election run, used such vicious attacks against McSame–you know, your new ethical wonder–that McSame was so outraged he refused to shake Shrub’s hand afterwards. In fact you gloated and celebrated the ‘victory’. No tactics too low or vicious then.

But you radically raised the bar for this ethics this time, you betcha. A Democrat must not only run a clean campaign. Nobody, nowhere, including the internet, can anybody say nasty, negative things about Republicans. Ooops, didn’t work. Some people–on message boards even!-- think little Johnny MCain, desperate whore for power, and his Creationist Barbie, Girl Fundamentalist, are travesties and–gasp–said so!

You’re right. Given your proven ethical standards, you certainly couldn’t be associaated with that.

You’re a laughable little cunt, Bricker. So vote Republican already. Nobody with two connecting brain cells ever thought you’d do anything different. Vote for your team but shut the fuck up with your disingenuous whining and self-justifications. You’re a party-before-country neocon. You thoroughly whored yourself out to give Shrub a second term. Based, you know, on his competence, cautious financial approach, respect for the Consitution and Bill of Rights and ethical, consensus-building political style.

And before you try, no I don’t waste time hating you. You’re a nasty little hypocrite but hey, plenty of those to go around too.
