Detectorists--a little treasure

Okay, that makes more sense–I had forgotten that element, remembering

only when they fell from the tree at the end of the last episode.

If only the crew had had access to some sort of device that would have helped them find and recover buried metal items…

I just finished the show a few minutes ago and I think the moment where the coins trickled out of the trees and the guys notice them is one of the great final moments in a show.

Andy and Lance don’t even exist and I’m almost wiping tears of joy away because I’m so happy for them.

Great ending. Just the best.

Lance and Andy are on their way back to an idyllic field near you!

I was just coming to post this breaking news. Somehow I missed it before.

The Detectorists 2022 Christmas Special arrives in the UK on December 26th. Here’s a great interview with Lance aka Toby Jones.

So does anyone know if the Christmas special will be available on any US streaming service?

It’s summer now, and there’s little new on television, so I subscribed to Acorn last weekend and finally saw the Detectorist Christmas special. I enjoyed it, particularly the ending.

Something I’ve learned since 2017 is that this show was inspired by an episode of the long-running archaeology series Time Team (hosted by Sir Tony Robinson). Lance and Andy were obviously big fans, and definitely influenced by Time Team’s use of walkie-talkies.

Detectorists USA.
