development/consulting environment

Hey guys,

I have been offered a job that I told the company I would give them an answer on by Monday.

I would be a project manager for a small team at a local software developer. They develop websites that use their custom content management system (usually enterprise level companies).

The team would be 3-4 developers.

I would be writing the proposals, designing the project specs, managing the budget/scope, and approving developer time.

That’s the part that scares me, developer time. I noticed that they have to enter in time on a daily basis, even if it’s a 5 minute job to fix something. They are not 100% billable, and they do not expect me to be, but they do bill based on daily time entries that I approve.

Is this normal/not something to watch out for?

I am on the fence right now because they seem like they are working on some cool projects, and as a 25 year old it seems like a good opportunity as I came from a project management role on a small scale.

I would also be doing some creative/design things as well as that is some of my background, so I am leaning yes but just a little scared of the environment in that regard.

They also told me that you work salaried 40 hours but if you work over that you get paid an hourly rate or can use it as time off.
