Device attached to this program is not functioning? and .dll problem

Ok… I installed grand theft auto 3.

I get the message “A device attached to this program is not functioning” and also a window pops up saying "

“The D3D8.DLL file is linked to missing export DDRAW.DLL:DdEntry12.”

What does this mean and what should I do?

You probably need the DirectX patch, as indicated by the relevant entry in the FAQ.

Oh, thanks. I thought I downloaded that already… I must have missed it.
