Sorry to post twice in a row but some of this merits response . . .

First of all, they don’t even claim to be looking for the top chef in the nation. No one who wants to go on that show is going to compare to an Eric Ripert or Mario Batale. Secondly, yeah, their personalities matter. They stress leadership, the ability to get along, decision-making, etc, pretty heavily. You’re acting like they deny that these things matter. Looks? Your argument is a non-starter to anyone who has ever seen the contestants. These are not Real World brats.

I think you’re seeing exactly what we all see but intepreting it much more antagonistically. It must be stressful to view the world that way.

I’m not seeing the world in any specific way. I got caught up in this season’s show, I was drawn in and all of it was very emotional (Anger was the motif, this season). It was compelling and entertaining. The people making the show knew what they’re doing, I guess that’s why they’re number one.

It’s like he’s a superhero. Dick Blais…mild mannered chef by day, truly nice guy by night.

Excepting, of course, that Shayna’s post was in GD and this one was in the Pit. Seems to me like a very relevant difference.

I don’t think it’s relevant at all as I’m pretty sure Shayna would have gotten the same mod note had tom seen her post in the Pit. DDG quotes the rules at him and says:

Pay particular attention to that last part, where it conspicuously does not say, “Rush into the Pit and start a thread lambasting the poster with whom you have a simple disagreement and label it threadshitting.”

Yeesh.

That’s total junior modding, IMHO. But hey, now I’m being all bad by actually having a conversation about it instead of simply reporting her post. Oopsies.
