Dexter 12/4/11 Ricochet Rabbit

I’m surprised we don’t have a thread yet so I’ll just say a few things to get this started.

First off, I’m really glad Deb figured out that Matthews was involved with the hooker. It’ll be interesting to see what happens with it. Was anyone else ever within earshot of her and LaGuerta any of the times that LaGuerta was pressuring her to close the case? If they wrote it in such a way that no one else ever heard anything, clearly LaGuerta is going to deny that she ever had anything to do with it.

Second, I’m still getting skeeved out with Lewis.
I got this game where you can be a Blood Spatter Analyst.
Hey I made this game where you can be a Blood Spatter Analyst.
Do you think Dexter will want to see my game where you can be a blood spatter analyst?
I want to show my blood spatter analyst game to Dexter.

Dexter, look at this game…you can be the Bay Harbor Butcher [That’s me]

Is Lewis on to him? I mean, they could have picked any of the local serial killers. Trinity and Ice Truck both would have given Dexter the ability to give his “I’m so offended” speech. If Lewis isn’t somehow on to him, I’m confused. Especially since this show isn’t really big into the red herring thing. Also, let’s not forget that they smacked us in the face with the “That’s Me” narrative just to make sure no one forgot that it was him.

Angel going into that house alone? Really? I mean we the audience knew it wasn’t just another dead end lead, but will a cop really do that by himself?

I also found it odd that when they went to the church they just so happened to check out that location with a Lieutenant, a Sergent, a lead detective and 3 uniforms. I assume Quinn was probably supposed to be there as well. Why did they need 6 officers to check out an abandoned location? They only thing I can think of is there’s a scene on the editing room floor where they got a lead on that location. A really good lead, like Dexter called something in anonymously. (“Hey I was just walking my dog and he ran into this church and I saw all these paintings that looked like the DDK murders and there’s jars of blood and shackles bolted to the floor and stuff, I just thought you should know”)

Also, one last thing. It really bothered me that Dexter couldn’t push that trap door open. That table was just barely pulled over the door, and very close the the fulcrum. He had quite a mechanical advantage. But it seemed odd the way he tried from so low on the ladder with his arms almost fully extended. If he had just gone up one more step or even two more so he could push it with his back he surely could have pushed the table off the door. He knew it was there and knew it was likely right at the edge like it was before. Are we really supposed to believe that he got Gellar out of the freezer (just doing that would be a feat in and of itself) and out of the basement but he couldn’t push that door open?

The dialouge as they’re walking up to the church indicates they know its DDK’s hideout before they go in. I assume one of the cops that was canvasing the area looked in, saw all the crazy crap and called in Deb and Co.

I guess you’re right. Deb said “Doomsday killer in an abandoned church, too fucking perfect” and there’s a squad car already there. I guess we can assume a regular cop already found the location and called it in.

And then see the Gellar books, and start to ask a question with his back to the suspect/witness? That’s just dumb. Annoyingly, improbably dumb. But then, we already knew Travis had superhuman abilities (ref: the thread about the previous episode), I guess his magical and perfectly silent appearance makes sense.

Yeah, the episode gives a clear impression that Lewis is on to Dexter. Explains his mancrush and his apparently profound rejection when Dexter dissaproved of his game. He’s a serial killer grouper that identified Dexter somehow.

Yup, I’m thinking either Lewis is on to Dexter or he will be very soon.

I’m also wondering if Dex’s sister is going to die next week when DDK releases Wormwood. Given there are two episodes left I don’t think they’re going to stop him before wormwood gets delivered but I’m wondering who’s going to get killed.

Anyone want to venture a guess as to who gets it next week?

The writers seem to like to kill people just in time to save the main characters from some dilemma. So T. Matthews will die to save Deb from her awkward position of having to charge him with manslaughter.

I dunno. How many iterations of “someone in the Dept. is suspicious of Dexter” can they do?

Or Deb gets the investigation going on him and LaGuerta dies just before she can fuck it up enough to stop her. I don’t think it would be manslaughter. He didn’t kill her, he just didn’t report the death. He just doesn’t want to be caught with a hooker since he has a high profile job.

But this is a bit different. Doakes and Quinn had it out for him. Lewis seems to admire him. I get the feeling that Lewis will be more like Miguel. It would mirror the way that married couple looks up to Travis.

If Lewis’s goal was to create a labor of love because he’s enamored with serial killers, ok. But Bay Harbor Butcher? No way. It’s never going to see the light of day as a commercial release.
Imagine a first person shooter based on Columbine.
Hey, you too can be Jeffery Dahmer, level up and get a bigger fridge!
Multi-player the Son of Sam. One person gets to be the dog.

It might be an independent release that goes viral for a month before it gets sued out of existence by Doakes’ family and the families of all the victims. But that’s best case scenario.

I get the feeling he has no intention on actually releasing a game where you can choose to be, amongst others, a blood spatter analyst or the Bay Harbor Butcher…pretty sure this is targeted at Dexter.

‘"Never get caught with a dead girl or a live boy. …’ - Grissom, CSI

Yeah they have spent *way *too much plot time with the Lewis character for him to *just *be creating a video game. There’s no point to that story, unless he has ulterior motives/knows about Dexter.

He’s a hacker, so I assume he’ll hack Dexter’s computer (perhaps out of spite for being jilted) and learn something incriminating.

Lewis already knows who Dexter is ( I think) he figured it out somehow from the Ice Truck Killer, which wouldnt really be that hard I would think. how he figured out that Dexter is another serial killer I dont know but given his computer skills its probably something he hacked while researching Rudy.

this also explains the sudden appearance of Batistas Sister this Season, you cant very well have Deb date another killer now can you?

Why just imagine it?

Ok I’m being lazy and posting to subscribe. I don’t know where they’re going with this…

Getting Gellar out wouldn’t be too hard if he got out a power saw and cut him into pieces, like he typically does to bodies. We know he cut at least the hand off, but it’s no stretch that he could’ve cut more.

Well, that’s not a first person shooter, so he’s technically right!
Re: Lewis, I’m getting a vibe that he’s somehow connected to Rudy. If the ages wouldn’t make it so ludicrous, I’d be wondering if he wasn’t his illegitimate kid. As it is, I guess he’d have to be a friend or frat brother or something.

Actually Grissom quoting Gov Edwards (D Louisiana) 1983

That must have been before the Barney Frank incident.

Why would Lewis show a game about being a fun serial killer to a guy whose wife was murdered by a serial killer?

because he’s a computer programmer intent on getting the details of a game correct and not really thinking about that aspect of it.

He bought the ITK item as inspiration/part of his collection - in his discussion with Batista, you could see him focusing on his (batista’s) arm - Dexter’s comment will force Lewis to take the next step “to actually find out what its like” to be a serial killer.
