Dexter and Debra got married!

Out of curiosity, how old were they when they were adopted?

Dexter/Debra - somewhere, there’s a very happy, slightly twisted little fangirl. Best of luck to them.

Mom was the one adopted. Dad’s parents adopted her. I think she was 9 or 10.

I’ll spoiler box this for people who haven’t seen the whole series – it’s a question about Dexter’s mom.

Didn’t Harry and Dexter’s mom have an affair? When did it start? Is it possible Dexter’s really Harry’s son? Could that be why Harry adopted Dexter but not his brother?

That doesn’t make any sense. Dexter had a paternity test done between him and Driscoll in Season 1 and it came back positive. Dexter is Driscoll’s son.

Far out. Great!

I thought Deb was.

Maybe it’s one of those Holywood sham marriages they talked about in The Simpsons and they both have a thing for fish. :stuck_out_tongue:

Xan, thanks – I’d forgotten that.

Who’s Driscoll? I don’t remember that at all. Oh, wait, it was that guy that died and left him all his belongings wasn’t it, well I’m sure Deb will turn up some interesting stuff digging in Harry’s ancient CI files

Six Feet Under got deliberately and dangerously close to this when Justine Bateman guest-starred, to comic effect.
Semi-related, I always thought it was kind of amusing that on Deep Space Nine, Doctor Bashir treated a pregnant Major Kira, who was the surrogate parent for Miles and Keiko O’Brien, when the reality is that Alexander Siddig was the father of Nana Visitor’s baby, thus he had to pretend to treat his own wife and child.

There’s absolutely no way that Harry is Dexter’s biological father. Dexter had the blood test done as soon as he got the morgue where Driscoll was. He took the blood from Driscoll’s body himself. The only way is if Masuka (who did the blood test for Dexter) screwed up. Which I highly doubt.

Yeah, me too. I can’t find any pics of her in the whore outfit though, strangely.

I watched SFU but don’t know who you’re referring to or why that’s funny (just looked the actress up and she wasn’t listed as being in SFU either).

Hmmmmm, didn’t know that. You learn something new every day.

Beyond that, in the same episode we learned that when Dexter was young, he needed blood to survive some accident, and Harry had to go “get it” - Harry’s blood was not the right type.

Dexter sent a thank you card to the “mystery donor” that he then found in Driscoll’s stuff.

Exactly

Replace SFU with *Arrested Development *and it’ll make more sense. And it was pretty funny.

Regarding buying wedding gifts, I think Dexter would appreciate some nice, very sharp cutlery, and I am sure Deb would love a new holster for her gun.

They will make such a nice couple, and their red-headed kids will probably learn to play the banjo quite well. Not quite sure I want them as neighbors though…

Clearly a moment of bizarre confusion for me - I mean Arrested Development, in which Justine Bateman briefly had a vague flirtation with the lead character, played by her brother Justin. Whenever things started to go in that direction, they would instantly and mutually declare that it felt wrong, somehow.

Jason Bateman

About 3-4 years ago, Jason Bateman was hosting SNL & Amy Poehler comes out to harangue him about making sure AR stayed on the air because of the money her husband made on the show. And she kept calling him “Bateman”. Finally, he said “Amy, my first name is Jason.” She replied “Yes, but I’m afraid if I don’t call you Bateman, I’ll call you Justine by mistake.”

The great part was his look of wounded dignity as he muttered “Fair enough.”

Not a good day for me overall.
