Dexter season 4

Dexter gets back to action tonight with a new wife and baby. The trailer shows that John Lithgow moves to Miami and he’s also a serial killer. FBI agent Frank Lundy (Keith Carradine) is also back because he’s looking for Lithgow. Will he get back with Debra? Is Oscar Prado going to continue to go after Dexter?

It sounds a little like season 1 with another killer on the loose but I would guess there will be plenty of twists and turns.

The first episode was OK, there was only 1 surprise which I won’t mention here and it’s not a major plot point - at least not yet.

I thought it was a good start, but I think I might get tired of Daddy Dexter real quick. I was kinda like “huh” with the whole Batista/Maria thing, just didn’t ring true to me. I’m glad to see Deb is up to her same old goofiness (I didn’t like her at first, but she’s grown on me). I mean, come on- tracking down your dad’s old CI’s just in case he slept with one? I like seeing Lundy back though, and John Lithgow should be good as the Trinity Killer. With the previews, it seems that he not only kills in threes, but makes them look like a suicide as well. Should be interesting!

I expect all the baby stuff won’t be a major focus, at least I hope not. The other kids were never major characters.

Did anyone notice the license plate on Dex’s van when they were running the ads to promote the show? The plate was:
KLD 2N3
I know that the KLD = Killed. I really can’t figure out the 2N3, though.
Enlighten me, because I’m probably being stupidly dense.

I think he’s killed more than 23 people on the show , maybe it has no meaning they just want people to think it does.

I think Lithgow might be the most deliciously abhorrent killer we’ve seen in the series. His M.O. is really abject.

Thanks, Bijou Drains. I wondered about that, too. It’ll drive me the rest of the way insane if I don’t get a definite answer soon, though. Of course, that’s not really a very long drive for me. :dubious:

Yes, I think Lithgow’s character is *perfectly *creepy. He’ll play the part well.

I should add it’s possible he’s killed 23 people, I never counted them up. They did 36 episodes before last night and I know he did not kill someone in each show - it could also be less than 23. It could just be some inside joke for the writers.

Altho I did not see last nights episode, even a cursory glance at the slide tray where Dexter collects his “souvenirs” shows his body count to be well over 50.

I don’t think he killed 50 on the show, that is almost 1.5 per episode. The slide box is just a prop so they can put as many in there as they want.

Also I noticed he kept his apartment after the wedding, I guess he must have a lot of spare cash on hand to pay for it.

Lithgow is great and a wonderful choice for this season’s nemesis. He is a wonderful actor and is coming across as a real creep. It is interesting to have Lundy back, I guess we will see.

I’m not real hot on the Angel/Maria aspect. I never really liked Maria all that much.

I don’t think they have ever implied that we have seen all of his work. When they had the Bay Harbor Butcher story arc, didn’t they recover something along the line of 40 bodies?

Me neither. I read somewhere that their relationship is a cheap way to use the actors without introducing new characters for them to interact with. Makes sense.

There’s a spoiler in the latest Entertainment Weekly – no names given, but the spoiler is that a “significant” character will be killed off mid-season. Angel or Maria, maybe? They need Masuko for the humor. I suppose Deb’s boyfriend could go, but then they’d need to introduce a new love interest for Deb, or put her back with Lundy.

I’m gonna put my nickel on Maria - her charector’s been thru hell and I don’t think there’s much more they can do with that at this point. Secondly, if its to be a charector killed by trinity, then its most likely to be female, and the only other significant char would be Rita, and I think that would be a bit much, Single Daddy and serial killer…

The thing that seperates this season from season 1, is we get to be see trinity “in action” and the swerves as Dexter figures it out.

In season 1 we got to see Dexter reject a ‘real’ brother that understands him for his ‘fake’ sister.

In season 2 we got to see Dexter reject a ‘real’ girlfriend that understands him for his ‘fake’ one.

In season 3 we got to see Dexter reject a ‘real’ friend for his ‘fake’ ones.

What’s Trinity going to be? A father figure? Or are they finally getting over that angle and going to switch it up a little?

Well, he’s got real and fake kids now.

As a new father, I was cracking up at the alternate opening sequence. Especially since half the shirts I have are now covered in spit-up.

It looks like it should shape up to be an interesting season. Can’t wait to see where they take it with Trinity.

I’m also wondering if… the misplaced body parts …will be a season-long arc, or resolved quickly.

Regarding the Entertainment Weekly spoiler:

I think it will be the newly retired FBI agent, who was the previous lover of Deborah…he will help solve the new serial killer, but happen to solve Dexter’s secret life as well…

Maybe it’s the* O Brother *thread, but seeing the end of the episode (with Dexter crashing a car full of body parts), the only thing I could think was “Damn! We’re in a tight spot!”
