Eh, I cleaned up all the things left on the ground, and there can’t be too many set items left.
For those following along at home, (almost) all of the set items we had are now on *sd-lowsets or *sd-highsets. There’s a place for everything on there. We still need to do the uniques, though.
So we accidentally got the tesladin the Cow King quest. In the long run, it might be worthwhile to reboot him because the Cow Level is such a great place to find chipped and flawless gems.
I got a bec-de-corbin off the sd-holes account and made an insight. I went into a game and saw some gold armor on the ground. ID’d it and it’s a Guardian Angel.
Pretty much all paladins want a Guardian Angel. That’s a good find. I can’t see why anyone would leave any exceptional unique armor lying on the ground in a pub game, even if they didn’t realize what it was.
And I’m glad you managed to find a polearm, then. I had forgotten about that account.
Oh, and while looking for a polearm last night, I found a Raven Claw on one of Telre’s mules, so we can level up characters very quickly now. A, if you want to re-make the chip-runner, let me know. But first, he’s far enough along that we could fairly easily get his Hell Hellforge quest, which we should probably do first.
I’d need about 50 more Str to wear it. Who is a GA best for?
Today is my one day off this year (almost literally) from work and school, so I can be on anytime today. I could use help muling, too.
GA is awesome for hammerdins because of the +skills, and great for melee paladins because it allows you to boost your resistances as high as 90%, plus some FBR. It would be great for a merc for the same reason. Really, it’s just all-around great armor.
We should get the chip-runner’s hellforge anyway. I’ll probably restart him in the long run, but we don’t need to worry about it too much now.
The standard currency now (at least within the game itself) is high runes. There are also third-party groups that trade in something called “forum gold”, an abstract fiat money which has the advantage that you can use it across realms and across the hardcore/softcore and ladder/nonladder divides (and possibly even between different games, though I’m not sure about that).
Stones of Jordan were only ever used as currency because they were both common and useful, and they were common only because they date back to the time when duping was so easy people ended up doing it on accident. But there’s no mechanism to transfer those old dupes to the ladder economy, so they haven’t been directly relevant for a long time. It is, however, possible to use nonladder Stones to trigger the Über Diablo event in ladder games, and thus to effectively transfer some of their value to the ladder economy.
I have come to the conclusion that the best way to find stuff is to get in on a lonely bot Chaos run and just see what’s on the ground. I put some stuff on the sd-holes account, including a 3 socket demonhead. I put Magnus skin, Guillaume’s face and a Windforce on my zon account, but I don’t use her that much, so if your zon needs them you can have them. I changed my account password to the group one. I don’t know how much I’ll be able to play after school starts back this week. I’m off to work until this evening.
I grabbed gems, but he was already in Hell, so I figured you meant the new gems account. The game wasn’t made, so I tried to make it. It kept saying “Please Wait”. I couldn’t cancel it. Now I can’t login at all.
“Unable to Connect. Unable to connect to battle.net. If using a modem…”
You got tempbanned. If you join three games inside of a minute, the game assumes you’re a bot and bans your CD key for fifteen minutes or so. It’s mostly a problem when muling.
I can’t fathom why the game would assume you’re a bot, though, since every bot is going to be programmed with the tempban criterion in mind, and time itself to fall precisely outside of it.
It would slow them down, I guess, but I agree it’s not particularly useful, and I suspect that it’s an older rule that’s been grandfathered in. One $8 dollar an hour employee whacking CD keys from obvious advertising bots would stop more advertising than any program.
Hey folks- R and I had someone drop in on a muling game today, said he’d found about us in a forum. I wasn’t transferring anything but flawed gems, so no loss, but we might do well to figure out some different system for the games where it does matter.
Also, if anyone does want to get in on our games, just drop a post, introduce yourself, and let us know so we aren’t surprised.
Yeah, that’s someone we know (though I haven’t seen him this season). Don’t worry about it.
Just remember that the password is not a secret, and don’t leave anything on the ground you’d be upset about losing. That’s good policy in general, since there’s always the possibility of crashes.
