Diablo 3 May 15th!

Hmm, yeah that sucks.

I want to do hardcore. Which means I’ll have start all over with a enw character.

Man… I might as well just go ahead and do that then. start from scratch with a hardcore.

I’m never going to beat this game.

I just finished Act I last night with Tom Scud’s help. I’ve died many, many times.
It sounds like this game is going to get hard for me. No way am I going to try hardcore mode.

Alright, hardcore mode starts tonight.

Anyone up for some hardcore action Act 1 from level 1?

I’ve been resistant from doing too much multi-player because I wanted to fully experience the storyline first. But since I know everything that happens up until act 3 now I’m more open to it

Also, I don’t want to die.

If anyone with a softcore character wants to bump directly to Nightmare, drop me a line when I’m on and I’ll rush you.

In principle, it should be possible to rush all the way to the end of Inferno, but I’m not there yet.

The increased difficulty is just the game telling you to adjust your build and gear. At the moment I’m playing a Wiz 52 and cruising through hell with 8k DPS. Vortex Arcane Enchanted Invincible minions champ packs are really bad for me, but that’s life in Hell.

Very little cash is required to outfit characters well for non-Inferno levels. There are deals galore on the AH because truly useful items are common (my most important items are all blues) and sellers do not yet really know the value of the merchandise. I have a few tips if anyone is having trouble. Here is my current build, FWIW.

Are there any sites that shows your character’s current stats and gear like in WoW?

Gonna ask a stupid question, is the end of Act I when you kill the Skeleton King? That was the end of the Beta version.

No. You can use the Skill Calculator to post your configuration of skills, but there is no way that I know of to link to your gear.

No, the Skeleton King is not the end of Act I. There is quite a bit more after that.

There are (IIRC) 3 bosses in Act 1, 3 bosses in Act 2, 4 bosses in Act 3, and depending on how you count either 2 bosses or a whole bunch of bosses in Act 4.

It’s in the works. It’ll be basically the same as the armoury, just Diablo 3 themed.

I’d only count it as two major bosses in A1 and two or three in A3, but of course it’s debatable what counts as “major”. In fact, I’m not even sure who you’re counting as the third A1 boss… The spider?

Meanwhile, I’ve put some old weapons I wasn’t using any more on the auction house. I priced them according to other weapons I searched up with the same level requirements, and didn’t realize until I’d placed the last one that if even two of them sell, it’s more cash than I’ve seen at once in the whole game. I think the key to enjoying the auction house might be to both buy and sell, and try to keep the two in balance.

By the way, how long do auctions run for? I didn’t see any way to set that, so I assume mine are the default duration, whatever that is.

Auctions run for 2 days.

For me, the AH has been the key to playing efficiently. I certainly didn’t get my current damage rating from items I looted myself.

wow, you weren’t kidding. the only thing the place needed is amusement park music and more teddy bears.

I also do not understand how others are on their second play through.

I’m in act 3 and can’t train the armourer or jeweler without something that doesn’t seem to show up.

Well, it took me 30 hours. You might have an actual life or something.

ETA: Ike, the pages start dropping in Nightmare Mode.

I played a lot of D2. It took me about 30 hours to get to level 50 and be in hell. So different strokes.

If anyone needs pages, I would be happy to give some away. I have a huge surplus since I always pick them up but don’t really craft.

I haven’t beaten the game yet. Hardcore mode will do that. Knock on wood only 1 death so far, at 21. To make a long story short, there was a bit of confusion upon who was entering the instance >_>

I started over with a hardcore character.

Had some help last night clearing out some of Old Tristram, also had a couple of close calls which had me sweating up a storm.

And for a level 5 character at that. Once I hit the 20’s I think my wife could make a killer youtube video by recording me play.

The angry Diablo gamer.

Yeah, the spider. IIRC (skipped that bit on my second character), you get a cut scene and then the boss drops in, which is as good a set of criteria as any IMO. So it’s
1 - Skelly/spider/butcher
2 - Magda/wizard dude/Belial
3 - stinky guy/dude who appears when you open the door/spider lady/Azmodan
4 - fallen angel dude from D2/Diablo

Actually, the most objective criterion would probably be that a major boss is one where other players can’t join in while you’re fighting it. I know that this applies to all of the act bosses and at least one other per act, but I’m not sure who else it applies to: Some of the bosses are easy enough that it’s never been necessary.

Come to think of it, this might be the same as the set of bosses for which you get an icon on your minimap to show you where the boss is.
