Vortex, evil floor, arcane. Arcane and waller is not so good either.
I also hate mortar on general principles. Ditto invulnerable minions.

What, no love for Reflects Damage?
Well, to a DH (aka: Glass Cannon), this is one of my top 3 “traits to hate”…along with Fast and Fire Chains.
Fire Chains doesn’t bother me that much on my Wizard (as long as it’s not bundled with vortex or teleport, or attached to a scavenger or something); all I have to do is run away (ideally around a medium-sized circle), which was my game plan anyway. I have no idea how tank classes deal with it; I’ve run into it once on my 40-ish monk.
Good footwork.
Fire chains is a bitch for my monk. Molten (or whatever the lava trails are) are miserable too, but at least you know which direction those are going. Never quite sure how the triangle of fire chains is going to move.
One of the things I do when facing chaineds is go to a corner, if possible. That way I am outside the triangle, fighting one of the mobs, while the other two call me names over their dying brother’s head… “you wait until I can hit you, you BITCH!” “take… kick… a… punch… number! slice”
Also, making good use of both the Barbie’s and Monk’s self-healing abilities. Horde = fodder for Vengeance.
Run to a corner. I’ll have to remember that for next time. Thanks!
Just make sure they don’t have Nightmare before running into the corner. That can lead to Bad Times™.
I think Arcane Beams are overpowered almost to the point of being broken. They chug HP by 1000’s/sec and most of the time there are 8-10 of them on the screen at once. They are by far the worst ones for my barb.
They’re either laughably easy to avoid, or they destroy you 10 times in a row it seems like. If you get something like arcane, jailer, horde, I’d probably reroll that quest. If not, pop WOTB and kill at least one enemy before you go down.
Yeah wotb gets me thru everything but arcane beams. They just drain hp too dang fast. Worst is when you have those little fast demon things and they have arcane beams, teleport AND fast affix and you’re in a sewer or cave and can’t escape.
That brings me to another beef I have with items in this game. There are no items that boost immunity to fear or knockback etc. yeah there are items with CC duration reduction but they don’t really help at all, especially when you’re fear locked by minions and wotb is down.
Just want to heads up anyone that may not pay attention to forums etc on D3.
Do not purchase UNID items from trade chat etc, an exploit allows someone to know what the affixes are. So the seller will know if it has say loh, socket, str, dex etc before selling it.
It is a simple exploit, and hopefully gets fixed very shortly if it is possible.
They’re not something you can stand through like plague or desicration, you need to avoid them. They’re usually pretty easy to run around or leap over, unless you’re jailed or get stuck walled or in a corner.
Another question that seems kinda dumb this late in the game: Is there any difference, besides aesthetic, between choosing male or female for any character?
None. Audio and visual changes is about it.
My middle son is now playing D3. I tried to give him some items of mine that I had no use for after the initial 3 day no-trade period for him…but now it’s been a week and he still can’t see items that I drop for him or if I try to trade with him, his character is always busy. So there is some kind of bug going on with his account. I thought someone else had a similar problem, but I can’t remember which thread and which page it was on. So, can someone please point us in the right direction to fix this? Call Blizzard? Reload the game? Push a random sequence of numbers and letters and launch some nukes?
Thanks in advance.
Don’t quote me on this but I believe changing your password was the method that worked for fixing the temp to perm account issues in the past.
Thanks RyJae, that was it, and it worked.
The gear used to do that is probably worth more. I would expect at least 100M+ for each individual piece.
With my barb now, on some budget gear, I’m able to pretty easily roll through act 2 inferno using the whirlwind/sprint build. It makes it easier the more mobs you can fight so gathering as many guys at once is pretty fun. The only mod that hurts is shielding but other than that you can pretty much stomp anything. The only truly valuable (expensive) item I have is a high damage, high LoH weapon.
Apparently right now ground effects (molten, plagued, desecrator) are bugged in that they are ignoring all resistances. This makes molten probably the worst for my barb. In act 3, the damage molten does is insane. With 900 resists, 8k armor, 40k life, molten kills me in about 1.5 seconds. Act 3 is the wall for me right now. Upgrading any equipment will probably be a miraculous drop or over 10M.
