I’m not going to jump into Season 1 right away. Probably take a month off from Diabloing. I went from D2R S2 > D3 S29 > D2R S3 > D4 Launch all back to back to back. My wife is losing patience with it.
LOL. I’m glad my husband and I can play together. My Aunt is totally up in arms right now about how she never sees my uncle since the game came out.
At this point L58 I would definitely describe my Druid as a tank. Tons of Fortify and healing skills, but it took a while to get there.
Do you think a Rogue and Druid will balance each other well? Because that’s our current plan for S1.
I think so, I’m playing a tanky Necro and a buddy plays a Rogue. We do really well paired up together. A Druid can do what I do, maybe even better as far as I know.
Welp, my lvl 50 HC druid lasted about ten minutes in nightmare difficulty before I massively screwed up. Rolling another necro this time I think.
My barbarian with 8k armor gets 1-shot from full health like every 3rd dungeon. I could never do hardcore.
Have you tried any re-specs of your Barb to see if something else works? (not criticizing…I am curious if that can work)
I’m using one of the two main barb builds (hammer of the ancients where the other is whirlwind). I believe that HOTA is considered better for high NM dungeons while WW is better for speed farming/leveling. I’m running ~55-60 nightmare dungeons.
I definitely could make some adjustments to the build to make myself more survivable. One obvious skill swap with associated aspects and then some paragon points on the fringe. I am worried about about damage at that point, but it’s probably worth a shot and some testing.
Yeah at those levels some times you are just going to explode no matter how good your build is.
I imagine that’s could be true, but I’m 40 levels away from the highest nightmare dungeons. How does anyone do those? It’s my understanding that druids, necros, and rogues are significantly stronger than barbs and sorcerers, but still.
I am not there yet but I think it is equipment builds that pull you into the very late game. Trying to find that perfect item (more than one).
The video I watched of a necro doing NM dungeon 100 he was using the “infinimist” build that kept him in blood mist the entire time. His advice was to not get hit at all because you’d die instantly.
Spent a bit more time trying echo of lilith today. I’m skeptical that I’ll ever beat her unless barbs get some buffs or she gets nerfed. I have 3 gear upgrades I want to make, and I’m beginning to suspect my paragon board isn’t optimal (although it’s very similar to popular builds), but I haven’t yet made it to her first health checkpoint in phase 1. I’m just not good enough at dodging to beat the spike wave long enough to DPS her.
We’re level 60 now. We have now unlocked every area on the map and are doing side quests in hopes of finding more alters of Lilith. Sure we could use a guide, but we figured we’d try to find as many as we can first. The Druid is an absolute blast to play, especially now that I have boosted basic skill attack speed.
I think it’s a good game. Not without its flaws, but basically good. We are looking forward to Season 1. I think in a couple of years it will look like a different, improved game, if Diablo 3 is anything to go by. But for now it’s really still fine. When I check out the D4 subreddit I’m fascinated by how widely expectations can differ for what a certain type of game should be. I’m not saying complaints about the endgame aren’t legitimate, but I just have more patience, I guess. It’s going to take hours and hours just to get through all these sidequests, so really there is a lot of content here.
That uber lilith fight is just wildly out tuned. It’s designed for straight glass canons that can melt her down as fast as possible because all her hits one shot you no matter how tough you are, so building as anything other than a max dps glass canon actively punishes you by making the fight longer. About the complete opposite of the other content you would be doing at that stage, 90+ nightmare dungeons which actually need strong defenses to get through.
I don’t know what has changed in the ten years or so since i quit D3 but i REALLY do not have the attention span required to play hardcore any more.
I don’t understand why they didn’t add more to chase after in the 80+ game. Charms…runes…a set.
Ah well. I’m sure eventually we’ll see something like that. In expansions for sure.
It’d be nice if we could find and rescue the poor girl from D3.
I am obviously way too much a filthy casual for modern Diablo. Well, that and still playing some WoW, and my steam library, and reading, and cooking, and working, and spending time with the wife…
I’m only 54 with my sorc, and just finished act 5. But I encountered Butcher for the first time and managed to win, so, huzzah for me? I figure I’ll manage one more class, but while the world is a lovely pile of crap (as that universe has always been at an accelerating rate), it isn’t grabbing me at all. I am not sure why - but most likely because by now, it’s obvious that everyone (including various iterations of my character in D1-3) are just always, Always making things worse - a mercy killing is arguably the best response for the whole universe, not just Sanctuary. A final war with the destruction of the Heavens, Hell, and Sanctuary would be something of a relief.
For sure. I mean theres crapsack and then theres Sanctuary.
It’s so relentlessly bleak I find it kind of humorous. Plus with all those monsters, how does any peasant survive? You see all these random side quests with people standing in the middle of an open field, apparently unconcerned that there are skeleton armies marching toward them.
And what’s with the side quest guy with the eyes? Totally macabre and non sensical. I’m pretty sensitive, but I just laughed.
Diablo’s world and lore never really pulled me in, but I find this attention to ghastly detail rather entertaining.
